This a pretty significant development for the US government. Hillary Clinton has equalised treatment of same-sex partners of Dept. of State employees. This means that they get the same benefits, diplomatic passports, emergency evacuation rights, etc. as any MF couple. It also sets a good precedent for the govt. as a whole and sends a message to the world about what the US position on human rights is regarding sexual orientation. Thanks to Hillary and Michael Guest (openly gay former Ambassador) for the follow through on this.

now that is somebody that I can look at and nod..... they saw the issue, they fixed it....its a small step.... but they fixed it......

now if the different states had the same un baised attitude .... then the US is sending a clear message..... our people are not just heterosexual, LGBT etc.... they are americans and equal as americans..... and we are giving our people something to be proud of.... the fact that america treats us as people equally....

again... its about basic human rights..... kudos to hillary for doing that, in the face of the people that are fighting against same sex marriage recognization

Wow!! Something that everyone should be able to agree about (Or am I a troll if I agree?)....equal rights for all human beings!!

Many years ago...when I was a younger woman...I said that I believed in not just ''Women's Liberation''...but the liberation of all people...meaning equal rights. One day...just one day...we may all be equal....one day!!

Marriage....don't get me on mariage...seeing as as I want to divorce someone! I have always believed in civil unions as the only legal form of marriage. If people then want a religious ceremony...that should be separate...but that is just my view....and maybe the marriage licence should be renewable....every seven years or so!!

LDD don't get too excited.....what governments give with one hand, they take away with the other......there is always a catch to any piece of legislation!!
