Aw, shoot dahlin. Rest, get better. *hugs*
I'm not sure drug induced near coma is considered resting but I've been doing that. So hard to keep eyes open sometimes. Thanks guys hoping the pain lessens more and more each day.

When I lived in Kentucky, there were folks who lived in the hills, who made some excellent pain killers! Maybe you oughta take a ride down to Harlan County!
Good luck with your healing, lady...being cut on ain't fun, I know!
I hope you feel better soon. Get plenty of rest and don't try to get back to "normal" too fast. Use this time for what it is for.....RESTING and healing!
That's what the drugs are DESIGNED to do, right after surgery your body can heal best when it is resting so let it rest., just close your eyes and imagine a soft while, light, warm blanket surrounding you - from all of us. Hopefully you have a caregiver there with you physically that can help.
Get well soon <nuzzles>
DD - I hope you feel better soon.
just a update, DD is back in hospital and the docs are not sure what is going on.... she was struggling to breath properly and her O2 levels were dropping, so she returned to hospital and they have ruled out pneumonia and congenital heart failure, but the xrays definately show a issue with her lungs..... the last I heard from her was about 12 hours ago from the hospital bed and they were keeping her in for tests and observation,.... I will update things as I get further news unless she gets released and posts in here before I drag my sorry ass out of bed....
OMG!!! Duckie!!!! Hope you're feeling better soon!!!! I haven't gotten too much of a chance to browse the forums over the past few months... Been busy trying to keep the new house and family from falling apart... I've been gimped up as well as the wifey and we're doing the best we can here!!! We'll be keeping you in our prayers for a quick recovery!!! :)
DD & LDD,
Fortunately you're in one of the best places for medical care. Keeping you both in our prayers. And don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything you need. You have the whole world here to help any way we can.
ok they are looking at a lung bio, shes on oxygen and waiting to see a pulmonologist..... and been told to quit the cancer sticks, lol same as her father has been told cos of his lungs.... so at this stage shes confined to a hospital bed with no smokes..... ( I am not laughing..... much.... cos I need to quit smoking too, )
lol lee, shes in the usa, I am in NZ, she changed her location to NZ cos of all the guys hitting on her in this site wanting to hook up behind their wives backs.... but yeah shes in the best place possible for treatment, here in NZ, she would go on a waiting list and it could be 4 months before she got on the list to see a pulmonologist so she is really being looked after in the US....
Damn LDD,
Sorry to hear about DD's issues. Thoughts and prayers go out to her and you.
Hope they figure out what is going on soon. And yeah, she should quit the cancer sticks. lol.
But all in her own time. One issue at a time.
Oh, my bad! I was in NZ a few years ago and had a mild heart attack. I got the best medical treatment of my life in Christchurch (well, except for England a few years earlier.) Just goes to show, guess it's all a matter of "the grass is always greener..." Anyway, my prayers are with you both.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
just got off the phone to DD, shes in ICU, pulmonary retention with a high risk of blood clots and she has a massive MRSA infection
I thought this thread was about somebody's Friday or Saturday night. Guess not. I hope everyone is doing well. Praise Jah.
It all sounds ver nasty, Duckie:(.. give 'er our luff an wish 'er well from all of us... fingies x'd...

So sorry to hear of her relapse.....LDD, you must feel terrible being so far away.
Man, I hope she gets better, soon!
Darlings, if there are any of you in her vacinity, could you pop in on her and give her our love? I know she'd appreciate it. Even if you just leftv her a note at the nurses desk, I know it would let her know that all of us are behind her and rooting her on..:}
Cat
Hope you get to feelin better and better everyday DD!! And I have almost a pint of the liquid pain releaver Realist is refering to. It used to be a quart but I think some evaporated.;)
Doggie :doggie:
:( After reading further into the post - OMG!!:yikes2: LDD, please keep up the great work of keeping us posted on DD's progress. Wellness thoughts and visions are headed her way and your's to mate!
What part of the US is she in (so one of us might be able to visit her (only if it would be OK with her).
Love and wellness ya'lls way
Doggie :doggie:
I called her at the hospital and they must have her on some Gooddd drugs. She was woozy as hell and Probly wont remember that I even called, but I wanted her to know that I was thinking of her. She couldnt tell me if its MRSA that she has or just a pulmonary embolism(Blood clot to the lungs). Either is nasty and I'll continue praying for her speedy recovery.:}
Hugs Duck.
Ya'll's Cat
hugs cat, cin rang me...... shes is the progressive care ward now.... and facing a needle in the back to drain the fluid between her lungs and her spleen, cos there is a lot of fluid that is restricting her breathing
the doctors are now thinking that its pneumonia on top of a bad infection lol..... and hoping that draining the fluid will tell them exactly what they are dealing with
she did remember that you rang, and it definitely lifted her spirits and damm she sounded so much happier and better on the phone.....
all I can keep thinking, is that if she was in NZ, she would still be waiting for a appointment to see the doctor about her ovary and to be put on the waiting list for a op....
for all the bad shit with the US health system, its still far superior to the NZ health system
WOW!!!! LDD!!!! You seriously need to write SCOTUS! (Supreme Court of the United States) They are debating Obamacare right now, which will bring us closer towards an England/Canada/New Zealand Universal Health Care system. They need to know how you feel. And i agree with you. There are issues, but the US Healthcare system and drug creation system is the best in the world. Because it is profit driven, there is an incentive.
But the important thing is DD. I think they are trying to claim pneumonia so the focus will be off the MRSA for later law suit reasons. She needs to have an independent evaluation. She may actually have pneumonia, on top of MRSA, but she sure didn't have it when she went into the hospital. They are trying to avoid lawsuit.
lol falcon...... its profit driven in the us, but in NZ, its tax payer funded and when the money runs out, so does the healthcare.....
we have a bulk funding system, the health system needs around 2.3 bill a year to break even and provide full services... they get around $1.7 bill and told to make ends meet by cutting services and staff..... it means that a lot of the meds that people are badly in need of, are not funded and not available... ops have been cut back in the 1000's and there is fewer nurses doing longer hours with more patients and mistakes are being made, some have cost lives.....
bulk funding only works if there is enuf money there to support a fully functional health service and in NZ, its not working,..... the numbers of trained health professionals leaving for australia, is often used to argue for better wages for doctors and nurses but when they say, giving us higher wages is still not giving our patients access to better meds and the ops they need, the doctors get ignored so they leave for australia where they can actually get their patients access to meds and ops....
I told cin that you said to sue the ass off the hospital when she rang......... she laughed....
lol When I called I said "Miss Cin?" and she goes, "Yeah, I Think" So I knew they had her on some good meds..lol Please tell her I'm glad this old gravelly voice didnt scare her, and that I hope she starts mending soon. I could hear her breathing and it concerned me greatly. Having P-monia several times, I know what its like..:(
Hugs to you too for keeping us updated.
And tell her she now has bragging rights. The Cat dont call just Anybody...LOL
Silly Cat
That is a serious situation duckie. Americans need to wake the f up and realize what obamacare means. i lived in london for a month. Sick as a dog. I witnessed the National health care first hand. Disgusting. Never been down under to see it.
I am reminded of "The Benny Hill Show", where they have national health care and right next door, they have health care for people who can afford it. The national health care people get smacked on the head, while the people who can afford it lounge in a jacuzzi and drink champagne.
DD. Such a sweet lady. It breaks my heart that she is going through this, and you too. And she does need to sue the f out of the hospital.
So worried about both of you ....
U may well have witnessed the NHS at first hand... it is an imperfect beast... but disgusting? There hun u don't have a clue what u are talking about..one illness does not make a shit health service... it may be in a few years if Cameron is left in charge but disgusting in general, it is not.. that his and his party's aim is for us to go down the route of the US is well documented and so he and his party wishes it to wither on the vine, however much he protests to the contrary..
No matter how good or bad a hospital it will have problems,,, and serious problems too.. this country has some of the best and most modern hospitals, medical practices and treatments in the world.. I have no idea where u received this disgusting treatment but I am quite sure members from this site who have lived in this country all there lives could take you to several local hospitals which are anything but disgusting... I could take you to several world class hospitals in this city alone.. each has its problems and each is imperfect but no matter how much money is thrown at any health service it will have problems..
The NHS saved my life twice helped me through serious illness just last year and has dealt with (and still deals with some) numerous other less serious conditions over the last 32 years.. it brought me and my siblings into the world and Kate and our children and my brothers wife and children and has dealt with our illnesses not only well, but generally better than very well... not to mention the frantabulous treatment it provided for my father during the recent illness which sadly ended his life.. yes it is imperfect.. yes it has problems and yes in certain parts of the country there are less than adequate hospitals within the NHS.. but from cradle to grave, it does its job, and does its job very well... and health care costs in this country are not responsible for bankruptcies of millions of its citizens.. and if it so so bad, and so disgusting, how come our life expectancy exceeds that of the US, we have less child mortality at birth, and fewer mothers dying as a result of giving birth? The US will have areas it has better stats but every system has strengths and weaknesses...
And smacked on the head if u get NHS care? Come on Falcon.. there are instances of that in every health care system but they are far from common. Assaults are infinitely more likely to be on staff than patients... I will not claim the NHS to be the best health service on the planet..but it is far and away much less than disgusting as several of my friends, American couples born and bred, UK residents, will testify...all but one their kids were born here and they swear by it compared to how health care works in their own country...
I will admit that with public sector cuts and financial constraints, there is increasing evidence that the service is feeling the strain and things are getting worse... and government interference and restructuring and attempts at privatisation of health services seems to be creating choas for the sake of giving the private sector a greater share of health care, and to channel more money to them.. this is having the effect of increasing costs on the service and adding more pressure to an already strained system.. but even allowing for that.. it remains wonderful value for money for the most part..and a wonderful service.. and I have nothing but the greatest of respect for it...and admiration for thosee who work in it (medical staff at least)...
Falcon hun... I'm sorry u had such a shit time of it while in "The Smoke".. but just as u can't know a country by staying there for such a short time you can't truly know its health service through one nasty illness... I've been going to France regularly most of my life and know it pretty well... I've been ill there too, with bad attacks of asthma mostly.. depending on where I was, treatment ranged from superb to the mediocre... and we are told the the system of health care of France is far superior to that of the UK... yet equally, ask many of the UK residents of France and there are many... and they will tell u quite the opposite.. but the UK, like France, and like the US no doubt, has treatments which also range from the mediocre to the brilliant... most of it is in between and just good to very good... but it is not in general, in any way disgusting...
I'm sorry Duckie for this rant on a thread about Darlin' darlin' and her illness,, but I couldn't let it pass uncommented upon... I hope she is on the mend and give her my love.
My youngest daughter lives in England, right outside of London, and broke her leg on the Embassy steps. She was given excellent care, she said. Her only complaints were that she had to wait almost 2 hours to be seen by the Dr before the surgery to pin her thigh bone, and he was so brisk that she had to call him out on his rushing to explain all of the proceedure to her. Because she is an Embassy employee she was given the best care there was, and she appreciated that, even after hearing all of the stories about sub-standard care.
I hope Everyone can afford the best that their state or country can provide, but we all know its different all over the world.
Cat
Bloody waiting times, Cat... if the NHS has a problem waiting times are it.. most who have needed the service know very well about waiting times.. The Blair and Brown governments reduced waiting times very substantially over their term of office, but because of the financial and other constraints being inflicted on the service by government dictat in the last few years.. these are once again on the increase...times vary from location to location and even hospitals within the same health authority.. even north of the border where we spend more money per head on heath than in the south these have begun to creep up.. normally however casualty treatment for things like broken limbs are treated quite quickly but casualty departments like anywhere else have to prioritise and more serious life threatening conditions take precedence as u would expect..
I've been rushed to casualty several times here too with nasty attacks of asthma where either my inhalers just didn't do their job, or once because I was stupid enough to leave them at home... I was dealt with the second I was wheeled in through the door and and the actions of the staff in the casualty department helped stabilise my breathing pretty quickly each time... and I have no doubt that my attacks knocked back quite a number of people who would otherwise have been dealt with long before they were.. and when my father had his first heart attack, there was no waiting whatsoever.. he was treated immediately he was pushed through the door.. and between the prompt and effective actions of paramedics and hospital staff, his life was saved, albeit unfortunately only for a week or two....but bloody waiting times.... if the NHS has a curse.. they are it!!!
It is indeed Cat.
I was not meaning to insult the NHS Dark.
Disgusting was too harsh a word and I apologize.
We have plenty of doctors here who give very poor care because their bedside manor engenders all the warmth of a library.
The slapping on the head and stuff, well that was Benny Hill.
I am sure I just had a bad experience when I was there.
ok DD is doing better, feeling a lot better, and starting to tell the doctors that if they can not do much more, to send her home cos she is bored out of her mind and she can just as easily be sick at home as she can in the hospital lol
she was on blood thinners and measured at 3.9, the doctors want it to drop to 1.5 before they stick the needle in her back, so she is off the blood thinners......
I know that hospital services are not perfect, but its the simple mistakes that can do the most damage...... and DD will have to explain better what happened, but she was checked by a nurse yesterday, that did not check things correctly.... and left DD with a oxygen mask on, that did not have any oxygen / air going to it... and DD's oxygen levels dropped to 54% ...... 50% oxygen levels is regarded as the point of oxygen starvation and the point that the body starts shutting down......
DD was told by two doctors and the RT, that if she had not ripped the mask off when she did, she would have been dead within a few minutes...... all cos of a simple mistake and oversight by a nurse......
who ever is watching over DD, we can not thank them enuf or the people that have been sending best wishes, prayers and what ever else they have been doing..... cos between me and DD we have used up about 7 of our 9 lives ( clinical deaths ) and more than our fair share of miracles and saving graces....
