No Joe, I meant no, your not the only one.lol 'Gash' comes from the delightful term 'Hatchet wound', and is a bit of a passion killer IMO. No wonder the ladies are too shy to flash their ga...vagina.
I know It's off topic, but you never hear of any bad slang words for the penis. Feminists are way behind there.lol
That's cos we are nice Gear... contrary to the opinions of some...
The word cock btw probably originated from the Norse word for penis, "pillicock", and was abbreviated in English over time to become cock. I am not certain when this occurred because the word for penis in English in the late 15th and early 16th centuries was pillock which evolved from the old Norse, a now defunct meaning, but cock was also used then and earlier.. so it was probably like pillock an abbreviation of "pillicock" and the two words ran in tandem for some time. The word "pillock" changed meaning over the succeeding centuries to mean a foolish or stupid person.. an idiot.. and what do we call such people? Men at least in British English slang... a "prick".. so unthinkingly we still attach to the word "pillock" a semblance of it's original meaning in a derogatory sense. Interestingly, the word "cock" is increasingly used in parts of the UK to describe a pillock... here endeth the lesson cos its bed time...
No Joe, you are not the only one at all. You can infer how half the population feels about the word based on the relative lack of contributions to this thread by said half. It really makes me wonder what the OP was thinking? "Gee, here's a sexy word that'll really get women to open up"? Personally, based on the offensiveness of the thread title alone, I didn't even glance at it until today, when I noticed that it was three pages deep...made me wonder if there was some interesting discussion of some sort going on. At least the etymology less was fun.
