15 Steps in an old farm house, we rented for over a decade, and my
brother rode a plastic horse on wheels down. He was fine amazingly
enough, least until mom got the belt strap and give him a few licks. He
scared her something bad. "Boy, you ain't doing that again, you hear?"
*chuckles*
Of course we got whooped for jumping out of a hay loft, jumping off
chicken houses, running through a set of beehives. There were lots of
general hell raising things the three of us country boys did that mom
give us hell right back over. We think she knows only half of it, yet we
are kind of suspicious of the expression "mamas always know".
And understand our mom smacking our butts with a leather belt strap, was
not abuse. It was discipline metered out to boys who had no father
during the week, then less of one on the weekends.
She would seldom lay on us five swats and the average was three. People
have told me her making us fetch the belt was a form of psychological
torture. I disagree, it was still discipline. We just knew, "oh shit, we
fucked up", when she told us to get it.
