I don't know much about Craig's list other the fact the site exists---I have never even looked at it---like I have yet to check out Twitter and while I did start a Face Book profile-I haven't been back to it since I did that well over a year ago--I don't recall what name I used, password, etc. but that ain't no sweat since I don't have any plans to go back there----I do like my MySpace site though!
Well I can say from personal experience that I have indeed met some really nice people on CL. I placed a personal add there last fall being VERY specific on what I wanted and more importantly what I was not looking for. I was utterly astounded by the response I received. Had NO clue that a tall chubby blonde would have garnered so many responses. I answered every single response which in and of itself was a feat but I felt the gentlemen deserved a reply. Little by little, after emails getting to know people, we would meet for a drink or coffee. I can say all were pretty nice guys. But I found a diamond in the rough with whom I have a great friendship. He is the first straight man other than my husband I have ever been with and he opened up a whole new world. My advice would be place a well written, clearly defined ad and weed through the response and I hope you will find someone as nice as the fellow I have had the pleasure to be part of my life.

I look at the craigslist all the time. I have never responded to any but the list in my hometown is real short, not much to look at. But if you want to look at a long list of some real "freaks" just look at the Atlanta Ga. list of M4M & W4W list, especially the M4M list. I can't believe some of them and the "request's" that they make! All I can say is that there are some really sick, perverted and nasty people in Atlanta. :yikes2: I have never run into any, like I see described on craigslist, but I do go to Atl. to play, frequently.

Have not had much success on Craig. Most will email for a short time and then dissapear. Others are bots just trying to get something. The W4M section is a huge joke, almost everyone is a bot or scam wanting something from you.
I think most are sincere when they either post or answer and then get cold feet later on.
However, I did meet one person that turned out to be real and clean.

Just be careful with Craigslist. Use common sense. I hear over the tv news in this economy, thief are targeting innocent people. One was a buyer who wanted to buy a used car and got stab instead.
Just thaught you'd like to know that craigs list has instilled another way to help to keep the spammers down. Now you have to put all the little fuzzy letters in the box to answer an add. But we have had a bit of good luck there. Although at first when we started to using it we didn't. But then I figured out how to word things a bit more and put in as much detail of what we were looking for as possable and it seemed to start working. Any way good luck to ya.
Yeah, we are being very careful and screening people. Ones who reply to our questions with only a 4 or 5 word sentence get put in the "CAUTION" box. If you cannot string a real sentence together and engage in any real sort of communication besides" I want to suck your cock", makes us wary , uncomfortable, and wanting to look elsewhere real fast.:cool:

I've just started using craigslist this year and it can be good for hooking up but it rarely is. I found (in my area at least) that almost all of the girls are bots trying to get you to sign up for a phoney dating site for your crdit card number. And with the dozens of people I started messaging back and forth with, I only ended up meeting one boy my age. We had fun, and it was totally worth the months of using the site, but it was a long wait for someone real and serious about meeting up.

In about 18 months, with CL I've responded to several ads, but only ended up meeting two datable guys. I'm very picky and screen them closely, though. Never meet privately the first time.

They've made it even a little more complicated now.You actually have to open an account with Craigslist to post an ad. It's still pretty simple (and, no, I didn't post a personal. me and my ex wife met a few people on craigs list, it was all good fun, but you never know, a lot of people get busted on craigs for all kinds of craziness...like prostitution and the such.....
As with anything like that, it's smart to correspond for a while. Then, if you feel comfortable after that, meet them in a public place. Never get too impatient and meet before thinking it through, don't give out your phone number, or address, until you're confidant that the person is legitimate.
I, personally have met a lot of dufus folks on CL. I did end up meeting a nice person last year, but the relationship was never culminated. I do know others who had success and some who wished they'd never put in, or answered an add, there. Even when you use your head, there's some gamble when meeting anyone, like that.
Actually, I'll disagree, in part: One of the things that's set me at ease with some folks is talking with them on the phone. Talk with them, for even a short while, and you can get a decent feel for them. It's worked for me every time.Quote:
