KISS is my favorite band. The time without the makeup was their best time as a band musically speaking. From the completely 80s hair anthems of Lick it Up and Crazy Knights to the absolutely phenomenal album Revenge (one reviewer described it as rip off your head and shit down your throat Rock and Roll), to the even better Carnival of Souls (their foray into modern grunge metal) they were a band that continually grew.

Then they put the makeup back on and took a dozen steps backwards. 5 tours and 2 studio albums later (the atrocious Psycho Circus and the slightly better release this year called Sonic Boom) and we're not going anywhere fast. They do have Eric Singer (the drummer who replaced Eric Carr in 91) back with the band. That's a positive step, but his interviews lately say that he likes playing a less complicated set rather than the absolutely thundering set he played in the 90s. So, who knows.

If they would get Bruce Kulick back and actually try making music again, I'd be happy. Otherwise, I just consider that the band died in 96 and that this current incarnation is just a tribute band.

I've met Gene once btw. 12 inch tongue is as real as anything.

lol I remember when Gene did an interview with Oprah mannny years ago. She asked "Ok just for the curiousity of everyone in America...exactly how long Is that tongue?"
He gave her that classic evil/sexy/naughty grin of his and said "Long enough to make you a Very happy lady for several weeks"
I just Busted up laughing at the expression on her face..lol
Cat, feeling verrry old..lol
