That is definitely cute and very, very funny. The baby's laugh is infectious. Dogs rock...usually.

Sadly, a husky in my area killed a three week old baby when the mother and grandmother went out for a smoke a week ago. The dogs had no history of violence. The baby was left in her carrier and that was left on the floor. Everyone connected to that situation is heart broken. Good to see the parent (?) was videotaping in the room but I could not stop wondering about the flip side of dogs and babies...sorry.

Still, this was hilarious.

That is a sad thing to happen. On the up side, it does not happen very often. Even working at the Humane society, we rarely see dogs that dislike children; only about two or three since we started (2 years ago) and we have 80 kennels there and they stay pretty full most of the year.

It's hard to imagine a baby in a carrier doing anything that would make a dog violent. I would worry more about ears or tail pulling or sometimes if people make loud, sudden jerky movements the dog could get frightened..that's kinda what makes me nervous about THIS video but it seems to have gone alright.

The one that makes me REALLY cringe is a youtube video of a family at a picnic where they put the baby on a blanket next to the family's pet cobra...that was difficult to watch - I guess the snake must've been defanged or tamed or something because they were all laughing it up while the baby was grabbing on to that thing like a toy rattle. It's hard to imagine cultural differences sometimes.

Part of the tragedy is that the two dogs that where left with the three week old baby had no history of being aggressive or violent. Some have said that it is the breed, Husky that may have played a factor. The mother is very young (17 years) but I do not know if that is a factor. It makes sense to leave the baby on the floor rather than a table top. The baby could not have moved though since she is only three weeks old. A series of horrible co incidents perhaps. Unfortunately, the police have found sufficient evidence to charge the mother. It is a very serious charge that may end up with time spent in jail. There may be factors that have not been released. I know that both dogs were taken to be tested inorder to determine which dog killed the baby. That dog will be destroyed. Sadly, the police reported that it was a very bloody and gruesome scene. The baby's body was severely damaged.

What are your thoughts and experiences on different breds of dogs and infants? You mention that it is very rare for dogs not to like babies and children. The dog in the video looked a bit like a miniature sheepdog but I may have the wrong bred name.
