Well spam is always a nuiscance. We get in on our email addresses, so that's why we have the spam setting and we then delete it. Websites are no different....they get it too and do exactly the same thing....remove it.
Undesirable threads? Doesn't that depend what an individual calls an undesirable thread? What would you call undesirable? I'm sure your ideas would both agree and differ, when compared to what others think undesirable.
Why would you, as an individual, want to have threads and the views of others removed. Remember, this removal sees the loss of what may have been very sensible and adult replies to something totally ridiculous....but then again....not ridiculous to the other posters.
In most cases, where something undesirable or nasty is said, the members are well able to deal with the problem, by putting forward their views and having some form of group agreement, through those individual posts.
Ultimately, the owner of the site, Drew, is the one who would decide to pull a thread, if he thought it for the best, but people will even disagree with that, saying that bad things should be left, so that members can still read them. We all have different ideas.
On your second point, do you not think that this already happens? Plus, what do you call abusive? Once again, we all have our own ideas about what is abusive and what isn't. I would ask you to think carefully, before you reply to this point, for you yourself were taken to task, about using abusive language and only the other day. If I remember rightly, you got your knuckles rapped.
Now, that sort of abuse, is soon forgiven, even if it is not forgotten. Sometimes, an individual will be shocked to learn that, they were thought abusive, for they were meaning to be humorous. People on this site, are from all over the world and although the majority are from English speaking nations, there will naturally be cultural differences and what may mean one thing in one nation, may have a very different connotation, in another.
So, there is never to be total agreement, total understanding....but most of the time people do get what everyone else is saying.

This is Drew's job, hon. He'll get around to it. He has a pretty big job here and it isnt easy. As a mod/co-owner of a writing group, I can tell you it isnt as easy as folks think it is. If you dont like something, take it up with him.:}

just yesterday, Drew removed the spammer who was selling handbags, and if someone posts something you don't like, you can click the small red triangle in the lower left corner of their posting, then you won't see any more of the offenders' rantings.
if you have any other complaints, you can always send an email to Drew directly... http://tinyurl.com/26d78x4
most likely he won't have time to respond, but he WILL take care of it.

Plus, it is HIS site and he may not feel the same as you about an issue. I've witnessed several posts that some had big problems with, while others thought little of it.
If I don't agree, or not interested, I just pay little attention to it. I do the same with some posters: I've read enough of their stuff to feel that I won't be interested in it, so I just skip them.
Different strokes for different folks.....Drew's site, Drew's rules.

Max, as far as I can see, no one has attacked you, but answered your question politely and in their own way. You cannot ask for anymore than that.
This post will be the tenth, on this particular thread, so I can't see how you get the idea that you have been attacked. Peg and Realist have said pretty much the same as everyone else.....but saying it their way.
