Personally, I have this belief that it is impossible to believe we are alone in this universe. Whatever happened that gave us life, we can't be foolish enough to believe we are the only thing alive in this entire universe.

I do not ever think we face a "War of the Worlds" or a "Indepedence Day" or a "Signs" but someday we might face a "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". What are your thoughts?

seriously tho...... I am a open minded sceptic....... which is a contradiction in terms..... but simply I like to explore all options with things, not just the yes / no options....

do aliens and ufos exist ??? there is more than enuf factual evidence in the world to point to the fact that not everything can be explained away by weather balloons and a us secret aircraft project, and I base that around references in the bible, old cave drawings, references in old books and buildings etc.......

there is also discoveries like the worlds oldest battery ( 2000 odd years ago ) that point to the fact that the world is more advanced than we give ourselves credit for..... tho wars have helped to stuff the advancement of knowledge for many 100's of years and religion too helped to hinder advancements.... so if they had not helped, its possible we could have been the advanced races that visit other planets and races...

the issue with aliens is that we can go looking for the blue skinned 3 eyed, 5 armed 24 toed being...... and ignore the fact that the human race is so diverse and unique, that they could live amongst us.......

honestly..... look at a female with the ability to multi task, run a house hold, have children and put up with husbands that struggle to open their beer and scratch their crotch at the same time..... then tell me that we can not have a advanced race amongst us.......

we can argue out the point of if aliens do or do not exist... but I like to fall back to the tried and true none commital answer of the sceptic and the answer of the beleiver in the same state

I have never met a alien so that can prove they do not exist...but just cos I have not met one on my terms, doesn't mean that its not possible for them to be real and exist....

I think considering how big the universe is we are fools to think there isnt life elsewhere in the universe . . . if it is life as we know it . . . if they are advanced enough to travel here . . . if they stick things up our poopers . . . that i dont know, because i havent personally experienced anything indicating yes or no

I firmly believe that there are more intelligent life forms out there.

The fact that they have not tried to actually contact us shows that they have a much higher intelligence than our own.

Well, the statistical odds that there are other worlds out there with life that could become advanced enough to send out ships or probes into space is actually pretty high--they would certainly have to be much older than we are to have gotten to a point their ships made it to us, but I would not find it too hard to believe that they would come pay this planet a visit because even though there are lots of planets out there in the cosmos---most of them are so inhospitable for life--that a planet that does have easlily idenfiable life and the atmosphere of the planet are rather tame---not like a planet like Jupiter or Venus that have winds of many hundreds of miles an hour--they are going to come check us out.

I firmlly believe that it is well in the realm of possiblity that we have been or could be visited by other beings or their robotic probes--we have sent robotic probes to other planets in our own solar system----so a civilization billions of years older than we with space fairing capabilities would most likely check this planet and its lifeforms out.

There are other possibilitiies too to consider regarding "alien visitors"---they could be from other dimensions, universes or other time periods. With us not really having any idea about the true nature of existence----anything is possible----modern physics pretty much has opened up to consider many such "far out" possibilities.

I used to have that little SETI program where you scan the sky near you and transmit data.....how effective it was who knows. But it was something a lot of openminded people did. Made us feel we were DOING something. Then along comes X-Files.....then you start wondering if standing there calling them was a good idea. It's the stuff of horror novels and scifi movies and books. But the thought there is something else out there drives a lot of our society now. They push for advancements in technology that someone dreamed up 10 years ago in a book. It's intriguing to see the impact it has on society in oh so subtle ways.

It's a big place, that thing we know as the great beyond, millions of stars, probably more millions of planets, likely.. there is something alive in some way out there. I kind of think it would be selfish of humans to think we are it, that our tiny speck is the only place in all of space with life on it. But more interesting to my warped way of thinking is, what does pass for life on other worlds, (if there is any) is it carbon based like life on Earth, or silicon based, or someother unfathomable (to our thinking) existence. If we saw another life form, would we be able to recognize it as being a life form. Hmmm, this deserves some first hand investigation, I'll let you know what I find when I get back! lol:bigrin:
