HAPPY EASTER to one and all!!

I don't know if you celebrate the religious aspect of Easter or not----that doesn't matter since like a lot of holidays based on religious celebrations----Easter has its secular aspects and origins too---so for everyone who does recognize the day in some way---I want to extend a very Happy Easter Day to one and all.

I consider Easter as a celebration of the new spring----and ohhhhh my ohhhhhhhhhh my----what a sweet spring we are having here after a pretty rough winter for us-----the grass is pretty and green---the trees and early spring flowers are out in all their glory now!!!!!

Some years it can be cold and blustery on the day--but this year here---it is almost summer like--it got to 80 yesterday---its going to be in the low 80s today and even though it will be a bit cooler on Sunday with the highs forecast in the low to mid-70s---that isn't to dog gum bad!!!!

Even with all the crap in the world----days like this make thiings just a bit better.

Enjoy the day in whatever fashion you practice!!!

Easter was hijacked. Not being mean about it, but really; what do bunnies and eggs have to do with the biblical ressurrection of Christ?

HOWEVER.......

....there is a very cute little warm and fuzzy Northern European story about from where the tradition was hijacked:

There is the Goddess of Spring, Ostara is her name.

She loved and is beloved of all of the animals and plants.

One time, the rabbit decided that, since he believed that he loved Ostara more than any others, he would give her a special gift. So he went out and collected all the eggs that he could find and painted them in bright colors and presented them to Ostara as a gift.

She was very pleased with the rabbit's gift and decided to share them with all of the other animals.
So she asked the rabbit to take the eggs and share them with the other animals, but the Rabbit did not want to share them, since he made them for his most beloved goddess, not for everyone else. But he did not want to offend his most loved goddess, so he distributed the eggs, but hid them so that the other animals would have to look for them.

That is where we get the Easter (Ostara) egg hunt.

Last week was Ostara, for those that are curious. Dates for Pagan celebrations are astronomical based rather than calendar based.
