It may not be going all the way to end Don't Ask Don't Tell---but it does make it harder for booting gays out of the service based "hearsay" evidence introduced by third parties.

good to see
that is more in accordance with military law over inappropriate conduct.... actions or words that can bring the uniform in to disrepute...
I am still holding out for a full repel in the us forces, as I already know after serving in the NZ armed forces, that issues with inappropriate conduct with LGBT personnel were few and far between and based around my knowledge, all of the offenses of a sexual misconduct nature in the last 25 years in the NZ armed forces, have been committed by males and of a hetero nature..... ( sexual harassment, sexual assault, attempted rape and rape, male offenses against women is a hetero natured offense )
the issue of sexuality and sexual desire is not one that is very visibly clear in the armed forces.... its very low key, non of this wanking behind the barracks and illicit liaisons in the showers.... tho there were the tell tale signs of attraction between serving personnel, there was never a time that while on active duty, it interfered with their doing their duty to the upmost of their ability
it will be a good day when the pentagon and obama finally put pen to paper and remove any discrimination against the lgbt in the armed services in the us as a discharge of a service person with a exemplary record on the grounds of what they do in their own time and in private, is unbelievable....
personally, I wonder how many people have died on active service in iraq and other conflicts cos the people that could have saved their lives, was discharged for being LGBT.....and the person that replaced them, was not as good in preforming their duty
its something we will never know.... but I have no doubt that its happened

I heard Sec Def Gates say in an report on the news this morning that all open discharge cases are going to be now done under this new policy--so I wonder if the case of the female Sgt that has been posted on here elsewhere will also be handled under this case--if that is the way it is for that case--I would hope that they take another look at her case and hopefully she doesn't get booted since I really don't think it was not the place of that police department to expose her--now if she withheld information or obstructed the police investigation in other ways--then she should face punishment either from the civilian or military systems--but her being exposed as a lesbian had no bearing, in my view, on that situation.
Hopefully---many of the current cases where some outside third party exposed the gay service member and their actions in being gay was not bearing on their military service--then those cases shold be dismissed-and maybe even some of those booted in the recent past under DADT in this way could seek an appeal of their cases and hopefully be reinstated to duty if they so wish.
