I have decided to tell my brother that I am bisexual. He will be the first family member I have told and only the fifth person. I literally have no idea how he will react. Eep. Wish me luck.........

Oh man!!! Good luck to you. Let us know how it goes. I've come out to my wife and a few close friends. One didn't take it too well, but the rest are ok with it.

good luck but why is my question?

The only person that knows that I am bi is a friend who actually asked.

First: Great news, I have the best brother ever!!!!!! He was a bit blindsided, but immediately told me that he only wanted me to be happy no matter what that meant. (Tears) Not only was he amazing, but having his support means I will have a place to go if/when my parents (who are both homophobic) don't accept me as readily. I love my brother!

Second: In response to you boca, while I am not broadcasting my sexuality to the world, I do feel the need to tell those closest to me, because if I become romantically involved with a man I would never want to hide that from those who are most important to me. If they can't deal with that fact, although it would hurt immensely, I would know that I was being myself and not hiding. At least then I could have some self-respect.

We each have families that are structured differently. If you read the OP's statement he refers to his parents as homophobic. Maybe, they just want him to be happy and will be like his brother but...then again....maybe not. He seems to have concerns about his parents accepting his sexuality.

Congrats OG!

Why would you not want to come out to your family, friends, and the people who matter the most in your life? These people just want you to be happy.

Great to hear the reveal to your brother went well, Omega. I wish you luck with telling your parents, and it's awesome you have a place to go if the unthinkable happens and your parents stop being parents. Hugs to ya
