Man--are they going crazy with the 2012 "end time" prophesy shows and the like.
On one I had seen--- they featutred a group of people who take it so seriously--they are buying old nuclear missile silos to move into.
The way I feel about it---I am doubtful that anything is going to happen--but if it really is "the end"--I am going to sit back--pop open a good bottle of bourbon--smoke a bunch of cigars and watch the end of the world happen.
Whatcha gonna do??? :):)

 I'm gonna agree with ya Voltman. That would be the thing to do... Sit down in a real comfortable chair, a big jug of premium brand of burbon, and hoping that you got a front row seat!?!?!? Yep that would be it allright. But for me, instead of a cigar, I think i'll roll up a big ole joint-of-juana :tong: Uhhhhhhhh I wonder if I should consider doing a few rehearsal(s) in the meantime!?!?!?
Hey Voltman, question? What direction should we have our chairs facing, for the best view??? I mean after all, an event such as that you wouldin't want to miss anything! HUH? The bible claims that the eastern sky is the direction we need to be watchin. I guess that that's as likely as any! HUH? :tong:
Hey folks I know of another good one. I was watching the E-News a while back, and they did a report on a person that has formed a company, that's selling franchise(s) to other individuals in other cities, that offer a "pet rescue service". These entrepreneurs sell the service of comming after your pet(s) in case if the biblical rapture happens. They sell you a policy, and you pay them a fee, (I don't know if it's monthy, yearly, or one time???) And when (or if?) the rapture happens. They will come and pick up your pets and take good care of them till the end of time. I PROMISE, I WILL DO IT! they say!!!
Now isn't that the dammed-ist thing you ever heard of? And believe it or not, they claimed to be doing a decent business. I guess that this and a "pet rock" proves that people will buy anything! HUH?
...I don't know about you folks, but I know that I would have a hard time keeping a "poker face" selling a service, or policy like that...

Same here...waiting for January 1st 2013.
I keep telling people. The Mayan guy who was busy working on the calendar, had to go for his lunch. He took too long a break and got fired. Simple!

It is just delusional paranoia. Check this link for all of the times that the end has been predicted. So far they are 0 for a few hundred.
http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm
The end of the Mayan calendar ends there because they just didn't bother to make the next one, figuring that they would get to it later.
As each major cycle of the calendar completes, it indicates one astrological age ending and another beginning. It has never indicated the end of the world, as some conspiracy nuts would have us believe; just the change of the age. In 2012 we will be actually entering the Age of Aquarius. For the past couple thousand years we have been in the age of Pisces, which is coming to a close (does the fish remind you of anything?).
And I would love to go in with anyone buying one of those missile silo's. It would be pretty cool to live in one, if just for a little while.

Actually--I think it was some show on HGTV a few years ago that I saw where they featured unusual houses that people had--one of the places on the show---someone had converted one of those silo complexes into their home and they had it looking pretty cool---along with the other spaces they lived---the people had bought a surplus rocket and put it in the launch bay for a touch of authenticity---

Several somebodies WILL die on the specific date in 2012. Somebody dies every day & for them the world DOES end.:2cents:

There is one thing interesting that I heard about in one of those History Channel programs--the "Nostrodamous Effect"-----it was a segment on "the webbot project"---guess I was pretty ignorant about that---but I really do question how really predictive a thing like that can be----out of all the stuff I am sure it generates considering the massive amount of info making its way around the web---just out of shear statistical probability--it is going to generate some "predictions" that just happen--generally in hind site--to appear to have been "prophetic."

I would be more concerned with bio engineered weapons.
Richard Preston, in his book The Demon in the Freezer outlines the terrifying Soviet bio weapon designs, one of which is the most frightening of all, a bio designed smallpox which is resistent to the most powerful antibiotics and radiation.
This weapon was manufactured at a place called Vector near Koltsovo.
The problem is that before US inspectors went to this place, tons of this agent vanished. I'm not exagerating, not pounds but tons. No one to this day knows where that agent is and for that matter other agents the Soviets were working with.
This bio engineered smallpox was designed, as others, to be a strategic weapon. The Soviets were testing a balistic MIRV in 1991 which was weird and unique-the warhead was refrigerated-and it was successfully tested, its warheads, empty of bio agents, dropped into the Pacific by parachute.
After the Soviet Union collapsed no one knows where these agents are being kept. To give you an idea how dangerous this engineered smallpox is, 1/2 a pound thrown on the tracks of a New York subway would wipe out all human life in that city in a very short time. Even if, hypothetically, 1/4 of the population became sick the medical infrastructure would collapse.
One should worry more about some terrorists using bio weapons. According to some researchers interviewed by Richard Preston it's not a matter of if but a matter of when.

As far a 2012 goes, it is just another year. If it is the end of the world, not a darn thing I can do about it. As far as living in a Silo, i doubt I would be wanting to beone of the survivors anyways. Do I believe it is true? Probably not. But just to play it safe on the ' final ' day in Dec 2012, I will just make love all day long.
