View Full Version : What drug use have you had?

I'm only posting this because a lot of profile's mention "drug free" or some other way of saying drugs are a no-no and it sometimes comes up in the chat room. It was just that it was always coming over as very "anti" drugs and it got me to thinking about what our drug experiences were. I'm now 52 and grew up in the 1950's and '60's. Drugs were very much a thing "kids" did. And by "kids" I mean people aged between 15-19. London really was an amazing place to grow up in during the 1960's - and I should point out that I smoked my first spiff in 1971 - I experienced it with an open mind not altered by drugs!!!! :)

I've smoked a lotta grass and dropped a lot of acid. Done some speed and a little coke. A huge amount of alcohol and smoked cigarettes for 30 years some years up to 60 a day.

And the conclusion I came to a long time ago was:

When you smoke dope you talk about God.
When you drop acid (LSD) you see God.
And when you do coke you think you are God!!! :)

I present them as "slogans" - I'll leave you to figure out how I arrived at these "headlines".

I neither encourage people to do drugs or condemn them for using.

But many of us do or have done drugs and that is as much a part of "you" as being "bi-sexual" (or Biamorous) or "an Englishmen".

Now it's open to you.

Rupe, London, England.

These were for recreational use...Grass, coke, speed, and one episode of acid...I am happy to say I no longer find these drugs fun at all. :paw: :paw:

I lived a totaly drug and alcohol free life - until I was 10.
I got drunk for the first time when I was about 10 started smoking pot regualry then too. I did just about everything that crossed my path from the time I was 10 until the time I was 16. I was a daily drunk and smoked pot thruought the day by the time I was 14 I think. I also took alot of acid and mesc during that time. The nights and weekends needed something extra special. The other things I have done is as follows as far as I can remember in no paticular order are PCP, qualudes, uppers, downers, shrooms, coke, crack, freebase, rush and hash. Some of the things i took i did not even know the names of ( or what the expected result was). I have not done these things since i was 16, not because there was some moral issue but becasue I did not like the path I was on and where I was headed.
There are things that I have not done like heroine becasue it did not cross my path when I was doing drugs. I think if it had I probably would have done it. Back then I was always looking for a better high. I have no desire to try these things today :) I still smoke cigarettes and have smoked more or less since I was 10. Have quit cigarettes for a few years here and there but am still smoking. I am not anti drugs at all. I am not a crusader. Like you Rupe I do not condem or condone drugs. I am neither proud or ashamed of the things I did. The experiences I have had both good and bad make me who I am today. I think I have an idea of how you arived at the "headlines" Rupe. I had "take acid, see God" writen on my notebook when I was in get High school. In the end all of my experiences with drugs and alcohol were turning out bad which is the reason I stopped. That could be another thread entirely. :)

I first smoked pot in the fall of 1966. Dropped acid a few months after, have done peyote, mescaline, coke, speed, hmm about it, lol. Only smoked pot from about 1968 until 1994 or so. Very heavy user, most times up to an ounce a week. It cost be dearly, terrible things I did to loved ones and my doctor said probably big reason I ended up with heart disease.

Are there people who can do drugs in moderation and never have problems. Is alcohol worse. Yes on both counts. The ole "if I could do it over again" mind game, I would not do drugs.

Sorry Rupert, didn't mean to stray from ur thread, but WHO could resist a body search fom Arana eh????????????

Anyway i just wanted to say that I think u have summed it up mate in the above quote.

I dont do drugs anymore , YES IM TELLING THE TRUTH lol............
But I did in the past, and I dont think theres 1 I missed out on.
I dont regret it, in many ways they were the best days of my life, but they coincided with youth so its not just the drugs,
Im glad I experimented.........
I dont knock anyone for their opinion on drugs, good or bad.
I just hope people are safe, always safe, and never hurt anyone.

I was hanging out with drag queens and muscle queens from about 1990 to 1997. For me the question is, what drug use have I NOT had?

You forgot about steroids on your list. Thankfully, I never did them. BUt lots of men in the scene did. And Viagra -- that's one that I only did once. Also, gays in NY were really into prescription drugs: Xanax, Percoset, Valium.

Now I've even switched to decaf.

Ok, is this where I'm suppose to say that I have only smoked pot....because Flounder told me to and said it would make me super horny!! Because, it did not effect me that way at all. As he was ready to go <wink, wink>...I went to sleep..........LOL  I'm sorry, but I thought it was funny.

I have done no other drugs and drink socially...ok, maybe a little more than that, but it's never been additive for me.

As for Rumple, Huney and Rupe...you guys turned out very well and are some of the nicest people I have met. ;)

It is funny! lol It does the same thing to me but I think there's a fine line where it enhances feelings during sex, but smoking too much made me tired. If it was your first time, Flounder should've known better. lol

I don't handle drugs well so even though I tried things I didn't use them for long if ever again. I was more of a drinker till I made myself so sick that I can't do much of that now either. I've been my own 12 step program.

The first time I had sex with another woman (another teenager, really; we were both about eighteen) I was coming down from the acid she'd shared with me. It was my only experience with "hard" drugs; I'd also smoked pot exactly twice.

I don't know if I'd do it again - the acid was cool but also nerve-wracking, and, for the cost of pot, you can do other things that are more fun - but I don't disapprove of drug use as such. I've certainly known irresponsible potheads (and alcoholics, for that matter) and I don't want them in my life, but I realize plenty of people can do drugs responsibly.

Growing up as the 'good' kid, the responsible one, the one who got good grades and abstained from all evil; I had sex at 14, my first drink at 14, my first cigarette at 15 (never really liked it tho, only occasionally now), and my first maryjane at 17, my first tattoo at 21(funny I thought it was important to be an adult for that). The only illegal drug was maryjane. I was offered speed, acid, ecstacy, you name it, and I declined. But still, my grades in high school suffered, as I was top in my class, honor society, and senior class president, so I only smoked dope occasionally for a year or two, which was probably a year or two too long. I drink only socially now. I am married to a man whose only vice is smoking and the occasional beer. He has never even tried illegal drugs, and I believe him. I made some pretty stupid and ignorant decisions during my last year in high school, but I'm glad I did, at least when my kids ask about it, I can tell them the truth. I think having the experience makes my advice more credible, at least I can tell it having first hand knowledge.

...P.S. I'd like to enlist in helping Arana search Huney!!!

I am 40 and growing up, even us 'good kids' with good grades believed in better living through chemistry ;). I did a LOT of pot between 16-17, I did lots of speed, and tried cocaine. Then I met my hubby and he didn't approve of my friends and my partying and I pretty much straightened up (pardon the pun).
I have got to say that the drugs today aren't the drugs I grew up on, even marijuana. I went to a New Years Eve party to ring in 2005 and an old friend had brought some pot. I took exactly two hits off of it, meandered to the couch and promptly passed out for the rest of the night. I was buzzed for two days and it is not something I'd ever wanna repeat. Talk about embarassing!
I swear it's not cuz I'm getting old. It really is stronger these days :tong: .

It's a tremendous source of pride for me that I can say I have smoked exactly one cigarette in my life, and never touched marijauna or anything stronger.

The toughest challenge was my sophmore year in college I had the opportunity to try just about anything that could be had but crack, ranging from moonshine whiskey to magic mushrooms and LSD from my next door neighbor and friend. There were other tough challenges like walking away from my brother because they were doing it.

I realize that puts me in the boring part of this thread, but when my kids ask me about drugs, I can tell them that I was tempted, and resisted the challenge.

Sorry if that sounds soapboxy. I'll step down.

Had had only one puff on one cigarette which made me cough for 30 minutes. I have been found of alcohol with Long Island Ice Tea my main squeeze so to speak. In college, I also came home after taking tests one day and ate some brownies which I didn't realize had marijuana in them. That was a trip! The rest I will claim the 5th!!

OK - I didn't know where this thread would go, but it's turning out to be a good discussion. Folk are being very open and honest.

I particularly like Mrs. F and Jerseyduo's contributions.

I'll open up a bit about "the huge amount of alcohol" - I'm an alcoholic - became addicted during the divorce period from my first wife (not untypical off a lot of guys if they're the one being dumped).

However, although I still say "I am an alcoholic" (I really detest the term "recovering"), I haven't actually had a "drink" for nearly fifteen years.

When I reached ten years of no booze I realised I had it licked and felt proud that I had got there (sometimes a self pat-on-the-back is allowed!! :) ).

People drinking around me is not a problem.

BUT I am still an alcoholic and accept, that for me, I can never drink again without it immediately being a "problem". It isn't about one-day-at-a-time any longer. It is just something "I used to do in my 30's".

Oh yeah - and because of family dramas and stresses of late (after 6-and-a-half years!!!) I started smoking cigarettes again - I am so pis**d off about it!! And it's costing me a fortune - to cough and not be able to breath normally!! (doh!!!) :)

There is nothing wrong with smoking a joint here and there! THe speed was in college to keep me awake from all of the partying from the night before! Other that booze that's about it!

I make no apologies about the fact that I smoke copious amounts of Ganja. It only makes you lazy and stupid if you let it. It all comes down to will power. I install Air Conditioners, I take pride in my trade and the work I do, and the fact that I'm a pothead has never slowed down or detrimentally affected my work. I am however aware that I am the exception to the rule- working with and going to school with all the different tradesman that I do. Most other things I stay away from these days. Opium and Morphine are two of my favorite things, thus I do them once a year or less. I got most of my reckless behavious out of my system as a teenager. Stupid, ineffective people give the responsible marijuana smoking populace a bad name and it just disgusts me that *cough* dude- what?

I started "sipping" my father's home-made wine when I was really young. I suppose around six or seven. After my Mother died when I was fifteen I started to drink very heavily on the weekends. For a couple of years I was drunk and/or high every weekend.
Shortly after turning 18 I pretty much quit getting drunk. I switched to pot and then when I could find it I always preferred hash. There was nothing mellower or smoother than a Lebanese Blonde Hash high.
During this time I also loved downers especially barbs. I tried cocaine, glue, acid, PCP (it was slipped to me), opium (OH MY GOD) and speed. By the time I was 25 I had completely quit doing drugs. I was going to college and I really wanted to do well and I was starting to 'noid out on pot. It just wasn't right for me anymore.
I started smoking cigarettes when I was thirteen and quit when I was 23. I started again after 22 years when my divorce began. I started and stopped over a couple of years and got hypnotized last summer and have not had a cigarette since then. I hope I never smoke another cigarette for the rest of my life. God it is tougher to quit the second time around.
By some people's definition I am or was addicted to a variety of drugs. I disagree. I had a "drinking problem" for awhile. I used drugs recreationally. The only drug I would concede that I have been addicted to was nicotine. I still crave it sometimes.
All in all, I think that I learned from my drug experiences and that if I had not had those experiences, good and bad, I would be a totally different person today. I am who I am. And that is good enough!!

What an extremely interesting and diverse range of responses! This is my first "post" since joining here, I just couldn't resist this one. I grew up during the mid-to-late 70's, and drugs absolutely abounded through-out junior and high school, (Littleton, Colorado at Ken Caryl Jr High, and Columbine High Schools for starters, and others later). With few exceptions, (in the beginning I was one of the exceptions), most of the kids I knew were much into doing (one kind or another) recreational drugs for fun. Booze, cigarettes, pot, hash, acid, mushrooms, speed, barbituates, (for the most part non-needle-injected type drugs - also, back then cigarettes and booze were not really called or considered "drugs" by us kids). While I experimented with quite a few different drugs, (no needles), I mostly became a "pot-head", and smoked weed for a few years weekly if not daily; (I even put a self inflicted pot leaf tattoo on my right forearm, which had much more to do with a 3-day-drunk on Cuervo tequila then a high on pot-lol). After going into the military, (6.5 years), and becoming a helicopter mechanic I made a choice between drugs/pot or career, I chose a career (aviation mechanic). Seemed logical to me; wasn't so much a "moral" choice as a "common sense" choice, seemed like to me. Over the years, I found I'd long outgrown pot, for lack of another way of putting it. I don't consider "drugs" to be an evil thing necessarily, but they most suredly do have the potential to do harm and become a destructive force in you life if allowed to get the upper hand; and while I always considered pot to not be even close a potential harmful or addictive influence as what I call "more serious drugs", like coke, speed, heroin, etc., smoke of any kind, in your lungs, isn't doing you any good. All that said and done, I wouldn't be the person I am today if I'd skipped, or side-stepped that period of my life. Better or worse I can't really say, only the Man upstairs knows for sure, . . . but I still carry that tatto to this day. . . lol.

this is a fun thread but as far me drugs and me go, i have never smoked pot and i tried speed once, and didnt like it (there are way too many overpasses going from NH to portland maine) where me and a friend were going to a concert.

I was always around drugs from pot to coke and i was usually the "look out" for my friends who did use drugs, but i never dared try them for fear of getting caught with them (my dad would have killed me and then asked questions, in that order too) and in metal shop another friend of mine and myself would make fancy pot pipes on the metal lathe (we did this to "finanace" projects that we wanted to make in shop class)

now to talk about alcohol as a drug (it is a drug isnt it? LOL)
i have used and sometimes abused alcohol since my freshman years of highschool (this was not as tabboo as other drugs in my parents eyes) and it was esier to get out of trouble with (i had used the "im just curious", or experimenting to smooth it over more than once, and it worked for the most part)

thank you rupert for starting this stroll down memory lane, and just another way of members learning about other members and making uas more of a family here

I had a t-shirt in high school that I wore ONCE to gym class that had Mt. Rushmore on it with "Only the best people get stoned" below.
My gym teacher didn't like that a skinny kid thought he could up-stage him by wearing a t-shirt like that.

:tong: Hi mate im 43 and i started smoking ganja when i was 14 I carried on smoking pot and got into pretty much the whole index of currently illicit shit by the time io was 20, I have practised the ancient art of being shit faced ever since, but nowadays i just do ther odd pile of base,I have never considered packing it in as a good enough reason has never come to me,ive been in a relationship for 11 years and i reckon we are happier and more secure than any body/couple that i have ever met or heard of. so all that crap about drugs ruining relationships and wrecking lives is just gov propoganda mind rot but i wont get into the politics etc not enough time in the world to.

PS. I would just like to add that i was drinking pretty heavy till 3 years ago as well, you know that gov authorised legal way of relaxing etc, heres the rub
if i could go back and live my life again booze of any description is the only thing that i would avoid, and i mean totally taboo, it is the soul reason for 99%
of the grief i got and dished out through out my life. And i reckon it is the major cause of a vast amount of the violence upset relationship break downs and more that people like me get the rap for and only because my drug/drugs
of choice have been judged a menace to society and communitys by people who have never seen a spliff and collectivly do not have a single ounce of knowledge nor qualification that in any other case would be the number 1 requirement needed when dealing with human beings in what is mistakenly called a democratic system of government in our society.

I fully realise that some people will strongly refute what i am saying that is fine,i am more than willing to speak out for what i know to be true and would never hide from honest questioning of my views

peace and love stinky :bipride:

We have thankfully never succumbed to teh t emptaions of such things. She got drunk once and had a bad experience, I tried it once and never saw the allure.

From serious injuries I was prescribed enough medicine to kill an elephant but my liver never allowed it to work correctly. So I had to seek other remedies like Chiroparactic care. Thankfully that worked. At one point during a surgery they found out that I am very resistant to all drugs, a trait I inherited from my mother apparently, as I kept awakening during the event. I cannot get a tooth filled under anesthetic or anything because of this natural proclivity. And yes, it's natural. The vicodin and other pain meds I was given would work only twice and then never again. Ibuprofen is fairly useless to me.

We do not condone drugs, which may make us a minority here. It may be that because we are bisexual it makes us odd not to be more permissive...but as we see it we are hard enough to respect already due to other's ignorance to damage our image with something as incredibly stupid as life altering substances. If we were to do so perhaps we'd be more accepted here, but the world would point to it as being part and parcel with a reckless and dangerous lifestyle. That one goes hand in hand with the other, so therefore condemnation of us is fair and just. Think on that next time you reach for (insert drug of choice) and what it does to the image of us all..

I have never taken any drugs apart from the bagfull I take on prescritption from my doctor every month lol

Seriously I cant afford to risk taking any drugs as the interaction with my medication could be really bad. Some times the results for my anti-coagulant blood test can be out of the required range and the clinic nurse always ask's if I have taken anything "herbal" LMAO

I do drink mainly only socially and I dont go out that much, some times I enjoy a single malt but its not the kinda thing to get drunk on its to expensive. Also I have to be careful how much I drink with the meds I'm on.

I dont have a problem with people taking the less habit forming drugs on a recreational basis. I know many people with painful conditions take drugs and I dont feel it right they should have to goto drug dealers to get them.

Be safe

....ate some brownies which I didn't realize had marijuana in them. That was a trip!...

Sure you didn't!!! I have had marijuana brownies, as well as made them! I have smoked cigarettes... many of them. *yuk*

I lied once about taking 'X'. My ex husband wanted me to, but I didn't want to, so I just told him I did.

Other than that, my drug of choice is cappucino and tequilla, not neccessarily together tho!!
