Volty July 4th Pics---watching a Zambelli crew ready a fireworks display

Well--I was out doing a story on happenings around the area---I got to get up close and personal to see what it takes to ready a fireworks show----our local fireworks display are put on by the Zambelli Fireworks Company--one of the more famous fireworks families out there---they put on shows for the fourth in the NYC area as well as the fireworks shot off at Times Square for New Year's and for the big New Years event over Baltimore Harbor as well as big and famous shows in Pittsburgh and Louisville, KY. As serendipity would have it--on Sunday morning while channel surfing---on the Nat Geo Channel---they had an episode of "Naked Science" come on--on the subject of the science of fireworks---and the company they profiled was the Zambelli Internationale Fireworks Company of New Castle, PA--the one guy helping to put on the Baltimore New Year's show they featured was the team leader for the group doing our show----these are not my best artistic photos I have ever taken, these are photos of a journalistic style--but I thought it an interesting subject and for those of you who wanted to know what a big time fireworks display looks like close up----here ya go:

I have a small limo business in Orlando. Several years ago I drove for the older Zambelli and his wife. Very charming, very nice people...

Well Shhh--the fireworks did go off--but after the day being pretty much overcast----it rained later in the day and continued on to evening---it was foggy and cool by the time they went off--and when the fireworks were fired---we were on the boat watching from the water----the smoke they made along with the humid conditions---fairly well obscured them----so it was not the best display I have seen thanks to mother nature--which is a bummer!!! and for Goodness sake---for the fourth of July----we were shivering!!!!
