While doing research I came across the quote below, do you find it true. Keep in mind I didn’t write it and honestly I don’t know how I feel about it yet. What do you think?
“People, especially gay men, learn from an early age not to give any sign of what's going on inside. It's the legacy of the closet. If someone hurts you, don't show it, because if you do, you give them a roadmap for how they can hurt you again. This is why gay men are often very hard to know on any but the most superficial level.”

Sounds logical to me. Might apply to a lot of folks, not just gays. Like most of those kind of blanket statements, one size does not fit all.

It applies to everyone.
Social and criminal predators thrive on finding ways to push your buttons or ways to get to you, either to get a rise out of you or to hurt you, or both.
It can also be used as a way to get you to do things that you would normally not do, through extortion.
It is, for all intents and purposes, their way to find and use that chink in your personal armour.
Now tha doesn't mean that you should be afraid to open up to people, but that you should get to know them before you open up about things that can be used against you, so that you know what you can and cannot open up about.
Of course, the fewer things that you have to hide, the fewer things there are to be used against you.

I agree with others who say that this statement applies to many people-not just one particular group----it is purely an individual thing----you can also say that gays are over the top gregarious, friendly and open----but then--you can find bis, lesbians, straights and others who that description applies!

What was the context that the original quote was written in?
Also what made you think of posting it?
