I took these pictures while driving back from Tulsa -
The sky pics were taken east of OK City looking west
I was using my Olypus E-500 with a 40-150mm Zuiko lens
The close up of the clouds was my first attempt at using a Tamron 200-400mm lens with an optical doubler allowing 400-800mm.

I must note that all of these were taken free form (without bipod or tripod)
Anyway, I will take some more later and post them.

Nice shots Dog. Were you shooting the sunsets from a moving car? I was looking at the EXIF data imbedded in your pics. Are you aware that you can do that? I use an Opanda plug-in for Firefox. I can right click on the photo and bring up the camera type, exposure data, focal length, etc. Pretty cool.
I'm trying to get involved in a repeat photography project at my university, similar to this USGS Repeat Photography Project (http://www.nrmsc.usgs.gov/repeatphoto/download_info.htm), and I'm trying to figure out how to embed GPS data in my photos.
How do you like that Tamron lens with the extender? I'd really be interested in seeing the moon shots using a tripod, just to see the detail that the lens brings in.

Wolf--you can buy one of the new models of both compact and SLR digitals that have the GPS included with the camera or---there are units that fit on the hotshoe connection for speed lights---you can find them at many of the online camera sellers like B&H or Ritz Camera---or get one of the camera mags with ads for the units that include a website and buy direct from the companies that make the units.
Of course---if you add one of those units to your cam--you can't use a speedlight or a remote control unit for remote speed lights---or you use those but not have the GPS info included in those pics.

Very cool :) We used to be OTR truckers so I have thousands of pics from all over. I might try posting some after we get moved. Out of curiosity, have you ever taken any good shots of the moon where you can see clearly the shadows on it? Ive tried a few times, gotten maybe one that was so so, but then I dont spend a lot of money on stuff like lenses etc so maybe thats my problem lol

The sunset shots with traffic in the scene was while driving -
The ones without traffic was at a rest stop with the camara stabilized on the roof of the car.
I am waiting for some good clear nights for tripod mount shots
Thanks for all the positive comments.

Some more shots from "the road" for me--I am now in St. Simons Island, Georgia--
From the condo balcony:

Shot of Brogan's original St. Simons Island "village" location--a fun hangout for beer and seafood:

OOO Doggie, I love the triple moon shot. Very neat.
Actually - the triple moon shots were of a lumbering UFO -
Just kidding - it's easy to take a picture like that - zoom in on the subject and don't use a tripod for stabilization.
I Hope to get some tripod mount Lunar,Venus, Jupiter shots tonight (NY Eve)
