I am concerned more that this single incident may erupt into a trend. I hope it is merely an isolated incident but these sorts of things sometimes come and go in waves.

It is sad that things like this continue. I really can't understand the mentality behind things like this. How screwed up do you have to be to beat someone to the point of near death?

Things like this are so horrible. :( Many cultures hold hands or walk arm in arm..I know mine does. Its sad to think that people can be killed or maimed for life because of someones predijudicial insecurities...:(

Too bad...

Regardless of the motives, if you kill someone you in turn should not be allowed to finish your life.

Take em out back and shoot them like the rabid dogs they are.

Sadly, that kind of thing happens all over the country and the world.

Fortunately, it is usually only isolated incidents. It is sad that it has to happen at all, but it is part of the struggle that people go through to get equality.

As proof, look at our recent history. Just go back to the late 50's and early 60's struggles of southern blacks and the attacks against them by the KKK.

That was really bad, then, but the violence still occurs; only the targets have changed.

Being Native American- I can assure you while growing up around it, I still see it today. I hate any racism or bias. Two core beliefs for me are "Live and let Live", and " First do no harm". Unfortunately, MOST of these crimes are committed by the religious ones who espouse their "christian love".

You don't have to remind us Wiccans of that one. we've seen cases where parents in a divorce have lost their children because they were Pagan, and for no other reason.

Christians and fundamentalist Muslims are the most intolerant, of all of the groups out there.
They have a history of violence against others who do not share their particularly narrow point of view.
Even the KKK used Christianity as a tool for their harm, sometimes using scripture in their speeches as reasons for justifying what they do.

Just like the WBC, Jerry Falwell and all of those other hate-mongers out there do today.
