I have a new-found and deep-felt respect for Keith Olbermann after watching this commentary he aired last night.

Not only does it apply to Proposition 8, but to me the message is about life in general. No doubt he's going to get a lot of heat for this, but I for one support and applaud his view.

Great video. Thanks for sharing it with us.

You need to fix the link, though. Needed to copy and past to get it to work.

This was a really nice, really powerful statement. Let's hope a few of the yes on 8 folks actually listened.

That brought tears to my eyes. OMG that was eloquently put...the LGBT community desperately needs allies like this!

Thanks so much for posting that!

It's good to know we have an ally like Keith out there to counteract some of the ignorant assholes who puke out what they've been told by the spinsters of hatred and intolerance without knowing the circumstances behind the original texts they try to quote.

Go Keith! Keep it coming!

Sainthood for Keith Olberman---

Wow--I doubt anyone could put it better.

The thing is--the same people who supported Prop 8---in most cases---usually say they are "pro-life"-they profess such love for the little fetus--but in the ways that really count----actually, by their actions--show that they don't love life--or love---

I do say that the "win" that is the passage of Prop 8--may become a Pyrrhic victory for the extremist forces of the religious right who sponsored this nasty piece of work----if you look at "the march of history" --they are on the wrong side of it--it may take a bit more time---but one day soon----same-sex marriage will pass and once it does---it won't be a big deal--it will just be "the way things are."

I watched this when Keith gave this heart-felt message and now watching it again encourages me to send this to people I know. Honestly, I don't think many people on the right watch MSNBC because they think it is too Liberal but I certainly hope that this video gets out to the world. It would really make the center right and beyond people think.

Even though I agree with much of what Kieth Olbermann presents as the "truth", I do not like him at all! When, I have watched his show, he is very much an asshole. I see little difference between him and that person on Fox News he treats like shit.
I have no respect for either of them.

Well here is my 2 cents on the issue. I have no problem with same sex marriage. With that being said, like Jay Leno said the same thing and he also. He added that it was a good idea cause now when a same sex male couple got divorced finally the guy would get the house.

I hate the fact that he has to go out and say "I'm straight". Like that should make his point any more legitimate. Nevertheless I applaud him for saying what he did.

I think he most likely stated that about his sexual preference to make it clear that while he doesn't have a personal vested interest in the outcome himself, any compassionate, clear thinking citizen, regardless of their sexual orientation, should be outraged at what took place.

Wow. I nearly cried at this. Bravo to Keith O. indeed.

Has Rachel Maddow said anything about Prop 8 passing?

While the topic for discussion on his show is often serious. The presentation of his viewpoiint is usually half-right, stupid, mean and "trivia". I do not find that to be entertaining.

Keith is about the only network news guy that dares to speak truth to power. The first time I saw one of his special comments I couldn't believe my ears. It was like finding an oasis after weeks in the desert. Some may not like his bombastic delivery, but he gives voice to the anger and frustration that so many of us have felt for so long. And no one does it quite as eloquently as Keith. I'll take his passion and righteous anger over the phony niceness passed off as "professional broadcasting" anyday.

Good Night and Good Luck

I suppose the stuff that Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity do is gold standard journalism????

The thing with Olberman and the "gentlemen" I mention above--they are not journalists in any pure sense---they are all pontificators and bloviators.

The thing is--in spite of the big lie about the domination of the "liberal media"---the number of those who are bloviators on the right far outnumber those who do it on the left---there is practically an army of right wing talking heads at both the national and local levels all around the country----but for the kind of thing that Olberman does---he is but one of a small handful of such people---a group also includes Rachel Maddow and the rest of the small group who do that on Air America---

Even though both Olberman and Maddow are doing well in terms of their ratings----the numbers of those who listen and watch the the right wing talking heads (sadly) far outnumbers those who watch and listen to the left wing talking heads.

I say thank God for Olberman--he is a bit bombastic--but you aren't bitching about the bombasity of Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and many others who do this on the right side of the ledger--so I don't want to hear that you are bitching about Olberman!!!!

To more true journalistic style of "left wing" reporting---we only have a small handful that includes Bill Moyers, Amy Goodman and David Barsamyan--with only Moyers having a big national audience with his program on PBS----Goodman is on Pacifica radio and TV with her show Democracy Now! broadcast in a few other places like satelite TV and cable access---David Barsamyan is on about a 100 public radio stations around the US--and he is pretty much of a lone wolf save a few assistants and his producers that help him. None of these truly liberal journalists get all that much exposure.

The only person who more or less falls on the left side of things who gets the attention of the mass, popular culture is Jon Stewart with his Daily Show and that is not true journalism, but falls in the category of "comedy and satire!"

Yes, I remember the first time I heard him and thought, oh my, a talking head for us! WooHOO! Yes, he's got the style the others do, but I like him. I was blown away by his comment on Prop 8.
