View Full Version : Racism In McCain Party?

Please look for an editorial in the NY Times called, "The Terrorist, Barack Hussein Obama." I'd post the link if I could, but I can't do this on my phone, and in any case, I only found it because of an RSS feed I get.

The impressions I've gotten from this article are as follows:

1. Palin could be a racist herself (she apparently quoted without attribution a late media person who was an outspoken hater of Jews and Blacks--I wonder, was this a message sent to some who would know?);

2. Racists are apparently rallying behind McCain, shouting slogans directed at Obama's race and name;

3. Racists are either working in McCain's campaign, or are being appealed to for votes (best to find examples for yourself in the article);

4. McCain has done little or nothing about this as of yet.

I have no reason to believe McCain himself is a hater, though he may respectfully and on principle disagree with legalizing gay marriage (he actually went on the Ellen Degeneris show and told her so--props to them both for being cool about not agreeing).

However, I must oppose any candidate that is possibly or explicitly supported by the forces of racism, on any side.

Of course the McCain campaign and the Republicans are resorting to using FEAR in this election---that is their stock and trade---be fearful of the "terrorists/communists/socialists/liberals/blacks or whatever term you care use to fill in that blank!!

They don't have anything else to run on now-----cutting taxes sounds good--but now---if you don't otherwise cut spending in many other ways---and McCain--in his own ways---has policies that are every bit as expansive as those that Obama has proposed--

The fact is--with both McCain and Obama---they need to drastically cut back on all of their plans and promises----we are going to be lucky to be able to do anything at all thanks to this current economic situation----that is the cold hard fact----both of their economic policies according to most knowledgeable and reasonable observers will only make our situation much, much worse.

Either way--economically we are pretty well fucked!!!

For McCain though--fairly or unfairly---rightly or wrongly--his party has the reigns of power at a time that has brought us to the edge of a financial abyss--and has it has been in American politics almost since day one of the nation---the party that is running things in such times gets its clock cleaned come election time!!

It is a matter of desperation that MCCain and his campaign have gone down this path---I just hope that my fellow Americans are not stupid enough to fall for that crap yet again!!

I say it is ok to diss Obama on his lack of experience--but as some of the talking heads for the Dems have noted---it is pretty hard after Obama having run his campaign for two years now and besting the rest of the Democratic field--including the Clintons who have one of the true remaining machines--to say that Obama has not shown some sort of mettle for having gotten to this point!!

American politics--like damn near everything else in this society today---is not merely a friendly competition--it has become a form of war--Obama won his first battles and this final one--at least to get the office--is winding down with things trending his way.

But--it is too bad that going negative does seem to work---and that is a bad comment on "the people" as much as it is on any politcal candidate or party.

Both sides have engaged in such a thing---the famous one is ad from 1963 that was run against Goldwater with the littlle girl pulling the flowers petals and the commercial ending by with a nuclear (or as they said then--atomic bomb) blast going off, hinting that a vote for Goldwater was a vote for an "atomic war."

It is good that McCain personally backed off that sort of thing the other day---but in this enviroment---you let that beasty out of the box and it soon gets out of control--sorta like that one great episode of Classic Star Trek where the Enterprise and another ship battle the ancient "doomsday weapon" that destroys everything in its path--including having destroyed the civilization of its creators----McCain and his running mate--may find themselves the victims of the nasty beastie they have let loose--it could not have happened to a nicer couple of people!! LOL

Just on the economy--I heard an interview from the man who for over a decade--spanning the end of the Reagan years thru the first Bush administration and into the Clinton administration--was the US Comptroller General--in that role---he was truly at the controls of the US economy--and he was basically non-partisan even though he was put in during the Reagan Administration and served two Republican administrations----he said that the reality of our economic troubles are multilple times worse than most of us know--forget the $700 billion bailout---that is peanuts in relation to these numbers----he says our outstanding liabilties total in the range of---sit down now-----

$60 to $70 TRILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!

He said that the policies of both Obama and McCain--if they don't radically modify them will be like throwing high test gasoline on a fire already out of control.

Sorry troll--I mean bikali--but if the election were to be held today--Barak Obama would win--he is only a few votes away in terms of the electoral college from wining--he only needs to win like one or two more states--McCain needs to sweep the boards and win like five or six states at least--a high task since he is falling behind in those states---about the only way McCain will win---if it really is true that the Repulbicans have the electronic voting machine people in their pockets and they steal the election.

But--you get you no doubt get your "news" from FAUX, Rush and the rest--so I can understand why you are misinformed and made your statement that "the majority of the US wants to vote for McCain"

The other fact is---as it now stands---the Republican Party--if it doesn't totally revamp itself--thanks to demographic trends in the US--is going to go the way of the dodo bird--or maybe a better example right now is that the Republican Party is sorta like the Polar Bears who are going to go extinct thanks to global warming----but I bet you are going to tell me "GLOBAL WARMING IS A MTYH!!-- Right??? The Repulbican Party doesn't have too much time left----maybe 20 years-if we can take 20 years of them running things--they sure fucked up the past eight years to a degree that if you had said things would be so bad in 2000--they would have locked ya up in a looney bin----we are in a bad movie now---its like every bad scenario that could be dumped into a script got thrown in---the only thing is----we are not in a bad B movie--we have this crap in real life and not reel life.

I am not saying that McCain won't win--but it won't be because the broad mass of people think he is qualified---if we wins the vote legitimately (highly doubtful)----by that I mean not outright stealing it and having five members of the Supreme Court give it to him----he will win the presidency based on appealing to fear--fear that Barak Obama is some sort of demon or something---and will win not because people wanted him--it is because "the base" voted for SARAH!!! and they wanted her.

McCain is an opportunist. If he thinks he is losing, and he does, he will play the race card. And it won't work.

Our economy is not really going into the toilet for good. It is just going into the toilet temporarily. At least that is what should happen. There is a crisis which must be mitigated now, and now that the whole world is facing the problem, there is a more concerted effort taking place to fix the crisis.

If we choose to socialize the whole country, we are toast. If we face up to our over-reliance on debt and moral hazard, and sell the recently-procured corporate assets back into private hands on a timely basis, the economy can stabilize after a bit of a ruff ride.

This reminds me of the song - Meet the new crisis, same as the old crisis... Kindleberger was right.

I appreciate your insights into the economy--possibly related to the troll's deleted posts. Of course, the possibility of recession is on everyone's mind. I will also take this opportunity to say that the impending doom of the GOP, as suggested above, definitely needs its own thread.

I'm much more interested in reading feedback from y'all about that article I mentioned, as well as the possibility of racism in McCain's camp and among his supporters. This problem goes way beyond merely playing the so-called race card.

If you have read the article, please do a favor for interested parties and post the link here.

Thanks for your understanding.

What I think is funny....

Barack Obama's father is not from here.
Yes, he is dark skinned.
His mother is "Caucasian".
He's mixed.
His father is from KENYA.
The racism that people have against him is RETARDED.
They cant be pissed because he's from "slave stock" of the past 400 years of Amurikan freedumb.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

They have to seek and find stuff because his father is NOT FROM HERE and gave him the "SCARY NAME". They cant say he is/was a Black Panther because the poor kid was about 7 or 8 at the time, and didnt live in the continental US either. And no matter how many people try to say that race has nothing to do with it, there has been so many people who have come out of the woodwork ( from MY STATE OF OHIO) that bust out the bullshit ("He's a MUSLIM!!" "He's not LIKE US")and then out the other side of their mouths talk all this garbage about how this place is the "Land of the free and home of the brave" and "This is the Melting Pot" and blah blah blah, conveniently forgetting that their ancestors from England were THROWN OUT for being RELIGIOUS NUTS AND FREAKS and the then government really didnt care if they lived or died... HOGWASH on the "they left to find their freedumb" no the fkk they didnt! England put them out cause they were tired of their shit ( and they probably hoped they would die along the way either by shipwreck, disease, or freezing cold)and they probably would have died if it wasnt for the native tribes and nations here who helped their sorry asses through the winters and helped feed them just so that a hundred years later or so those same tribes would be called "heathens" and "barbarians" and be slaughtered and placed on reservations. Oh the thanks they have gotten! "And lets import people from another damn country who are used to the heat and dont look like us to do our work because we want to make all the money and not lift a fkkn finger and call them names and justify it by saying they are all stupid and not teach them how to read good and lets rape their women because its NAUGHTYand TABOO and they're dark and they have big boobs! And lets refer to the males of the scary dark people as 'studs' to be bred for work like horses are! And if they run lets cut off their feet!"!!!

Phooey on all of it.

This PLANET is more important than a section of property, and once we realize that, this world would probably be a better place.

Maybe they should all smoke the peace pipe and watch some Star Trek... learn about the Prime Directive and realize we ALL need each other to survive...Learn to respect others as we need to be respected instead of going into other countries and telling them what to do "or else"... I mean shit.. didnt this economy crap teach anyone ANYTHING??? Give up the ghost of hate for goodness' sake!

Most excellent video. I enjoyed the "I can talk to these men all day and if I had time, I'd cook for them."

It's disheartening to see that some folks still buy into the hateful crap, but it's good to see that McCain's negative crap is backfiring on him.

It should be telling that he can't keep up on the issues, so he's resorted to lies about his involvement with terrorists, his background, and his religion.

I wouldn't discount the influence these right wing radio show guys have on some people including ones backing McCain. When the same radio stations that actually call themselves "news" staions have these guys on it undoubtedly stirs people up,
Often times these are the same stations that feature sports broadcasts and weather and traffic not end of the dial low power stations. Ive heard all kinds of things linking Obama to terrorists becuse he knows a college proffessor who 40 yrs ago was in the Weather Underground. A total stretch it seems but not to this host.
Then the flap over a preacher where Obama attended church

His middle name

These guys sound to me like a cross breed between a snake oil salesman and a mentally unsound revival preacher

On another note the Republican campaign had a stop near here that was just weird/scary

LOL! The term "Causcasian" is actually a personal joke to me.. it's one of the biggest misnomers since just basing people on melanin pigmentation by calling them Crayola colors (like "white", "black", "red", "yellow"):cutelaugh Cultural differences are what divide people as a whole, not the ability to tan:cutelaugh

Thanks Vi-that is a great video---I agree wholeheartedly with what Donna Brazile said-----

I am afrad though---I have heard some very different sentiments from people I know---that are directly the opposite of what she talked about-and I am afraid that there are many people who hold a very nasty and different view.

One person I know---told me in very clear and uncertain terms about who he is not voting for---here is the edited version of what he said: "There isn't any way in hell that I would vote for a Gd, F'n N for president!" I am sure you can fill in the parts of those words I didn't provide.

I have had many others express the same basic sentiments----perhaps not so crudely and directly-but ya do get their gist.

So--I have to add to my ways of McCain winning--he is no doubt getting the vote of people--even life long Democrats, who simply still cannot abide the notion that a black man is elected president of the US.

BTW, for everyone who missed it... Here (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/12/opinion/12rich.html?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=login) is the actual article.

The Terrorist Barack Hussein Obama
By FRANK RICH
Published: October 11, 2008

IF you think way back to the start of this marathon campaign, back when it seemed preposterous that any black man could be a serious presidential contender, then you remember the biggest fear about Barack Obama: a crazy person might take a shot at him.

Some voters told reporters that they didn’t want Obama to run, let alone win, should his very presence unleash the demons who have stalked America from Lincoln to King. After consultation with Congress, Michael Chertoff, the homeland security secretary, gave Obama a Secret Service detail earlier than any presidential candidate in our history — in May 2007, some eight months before the first Democratic primaries.

“I’ve got the best protection in the world, so stop worrying,” Obama reassured his supporters. Eventually the country got conditioned to his appearing in large arenas without incident (though I confess that the first loud burst of fireworks at the end of his convention stadium speech gave me a start). In America, nothing does succeed like success. The fear receded.

Thanks Taylor---that was a great column--

I was thinking though--that on top of everything else going on in this society at this time---my God--if someone does assassinate Barak Obama--the lid is going to come off of the boiling pot that is our current state of affairs in this nation---that might be a tipping point that could just set this nation off a path we don't want to think about----it is really sort of chilling to even contemplate----

McCain gets boos at GOP rally for defending Obama

By MARGARET TALEV AND WILLIAM DOUGLAS
McClatchy Newspapers

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- John McCain on Friday moved to calm rising anger among his supporters at rival Barack Obama, calling him a decent man and at one point taking the microphone away from a woman who had called Obama an Arab.

Their anger apparently still at flash point, McCain's supporters then booed him for his conciliatory words about Obama.

The abrupt move from McCain at a town hall meeting in Minnesota came after days of rising tensions as McCain and his campaign attacked Obama as a friend of a 1960s radical they called a terrorist.

Obama mocks McCain in Nevada stops

By KATHLEEN HENNESSEY, Associated Press Writer

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

(09-17) 18:57 PDT LAS VEGAS, (AP) --

Barack Obama sharpened his attacks on John McCain and mocked the Republican's recent calls for reform in two stops in Nevada on Wednesday after days of listening to nervous supporters fret about the Democrat's chances of taking the White House.

<snip>

In Elko, Obama tried to anticipate his critics and called on the crowd of about 1,500 to sharpen their elbows, too.

"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face," he said.

Rest of the Story (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2008/09/17/politics/p185733D40.DTL&type=politics)

And based on what I've seen and been through- - some of his supporters have taken it to the next level - -I'm wondering where the editorials are on THAT.

It's politics as usual. . .no matter what he OR McCain promises.
