Summer is winding down---the hummingbirds are hitting the feeders big time readying themselves for the long trip back to Mexico or wherever they go for the winter----I see other birds migrating south already too--the sunflowers are out---

just a few late summer pics for all to enjoy

Volty,

Dear man, do YOU live in and amongst this paradise? If so, you are a most lucky man. Tonight, her in Boston, it is going down to nearly 60 degrees. Honestly....it feels SO good to need a blanket when we sit on the outside in the late evening and share a glass of wine.

Love the sunflowers!

thanks for the pictures. I used to have sunflowers in my front yard but they only lasted two seasons. Today it has been rainy and windy because of tropical storm fay and tommorow it is going to be the same. Well thanks again.

I wish I were so good with a camera.
When I gaze on that sunflower portrait, I can feel the sun shine on me.
I am having such a great summer. Even though, I know I am in the autumn of my life, I feel summer in my body and soul. So, it would be great to have such great photo memories for those very, very winter days.

The pictures of the waterfront homes reminded me of when I was a kid up in Illinois. We lived right near the Fox River and our neighbors, across the street, had their house on the river.

Delightful photos, Volty... I always loved how late summer evenings transition you into early autumn days... best time of year.

The photos that I posted up to start this thread were takien either in midday in the case of the sunflower photos or in the late afternoon, early evening in the case of the photos in the yard looking at the water---this set of photos was taken just as the sun rose the other day---due to a cool night and still very warm water---the steam was rising from the water (this is also called "Sea Smoke" or in the case of the lake I guess "Lake Smoke")

It is too early for this to be happening----usually this doesn't happen for another month at least---but we are going to get another round of heat and maybe even some of the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay----we do need the rain--we had near flood conditions this spring-then we got to one point and the tap got shut off-now we are in a mini-drought--I guess we can never be happy!!

Hope ya like these photos

If you are wondering where I took these photos--I was standing one one of the docks that goes out about 25 feet or so into the lake.
