Out of curiosity I was just wondering what gas prices are where you live. It has been one year and two days since this thread was started so it got me wondering.

Salem, Oregon $3.59 for the cheap stuff.

I just paid 3.79 yesterday at Arco, which always has the cheapest gas. These are teh times that make me really hate driving a muscle car. On the plus side though, I live less than a mile from work :)

In recent days here in SW Ohio--I have seen it range in price from $3.49 per gal to $3.65 per gallon--but that was in the past few days-I haven't yet left the house this morning and thanks to the commodity price hitting yet another record high this morning of over $121 per barrel--I am sure the price is up--now all of the stations have replaced the old style signs that had to be done by hand with electronic ones---the price can change anywhere from five to twenty five cents in one day.

The thing that does really piss me off about gas prices--I was driving around Sunday night when it hit me the disparity in gas prices- at the same stations like Shells or BPs--go to one area-the price for regular unleaded was $3.49 to $3.51---drive a few miles and the price was $3.59 then drive a bit more and it was $3.65- I paid $3.61 per gallon to fill my tank at one Shell station--and not five miles later--at others--it was $3.49!!!!!-which is totall BS to me that the oil companies practice what they call "zone pricing"or something such as that----as hard as it is--I can deal with the fact that the price of gasoline is going up and we are never going to see gas prices of even $2.00 per gallon ever again, before long--it will be "the good old days when gas was only $3 or $4 per gallon!"--the oil companies need to stop this zone pricing BS!!!!

And get ready--I have heard more and more talk of oil prices going well past $200 per barrel----and at that--we are talking of gas being in the range of $10 or more dollars per gallon by this time next year.
At that price--it will be almost impossible for most of us to fill the tank of a great gas mileage car like a Honda or Toyota hybrid--let alone filling up the gas tank of a honking SUV!

That is gonna be fun--filling the tank of a small car and it costs $120 to do so.

Read this headline story and weep folks:

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080506/oil_prices.html

According to the story-a Goldman Sachs oil anaylist predicts that oil could reach the $200 a barrel or higher level within the next six months to one year-and they don't see the limit of how high it will go!!

Smile children. As of today for an 11 gallon tank (UK gallons) I paid £56 to fill it today. So you are not quite so hard done by as you think.

OK I'll only briefly get on my soapbox here. Just wanted to point out that gas stations aren't the only ones who use zone pricing. So do most major grocery stores & drug stores. With the drug stores though it's not on meds just on the sundry other items. Invariably, the highest prices just happen to be in the poorest neighborhoods where people are more likely to be stuck using public transportation & have a harder time taking their business elsewhere.

I had noticed that too--the lowest fuel prices now are in the "rich" 'burbs and the highest prices are in the inner city and urban areas where those on down the socio-economic ladder live---talk about a "war"---it is a war on those who have the least in this society.

That is also the case in the more rural areas too--like down in the Appalachian part of Ohio--a place that has an unemployment rate in the double digits--- which is pretty much a permanent condition--and down there---you have to drive some long distances since there is no mass transit of any kind.

anywhere between 3.53 to 3.67 here

3.67 for regular (diesel is over 4 a gallon) down here in Ft. Lauderdale.

Amazing that the gas companies are complaining that they have to raise their prices because of the increase in price per barrel, yet they keep posting increased quarterly profits.

I'm just glad that I ride a 60 mpg motorcycle.

I paid $3.29 yesterday and today it is $3.39. When I bought my car in 2000 it cost $12 to fill up. Now it is $35! The cost of gas is going to force me to ride a bike to work! (Well maybe not!)
