I just read in the newspaper today that this is the 6th and final season
of the L Word.....
I did not realize it was in its last season. I was disappointed when
I heard that today.

I absolutely adore the L word, and have all 5 seasons of it. they are only in their 5th season right now. I ahven't heard anything about it being the last, but i don't really go to the site very often. Maybe the next season will be the 6th and final? that would really suck :(

I have not been to the website yet. But I had heard that it was the final season on a commercial last week. They did a preview of the next episode and then mentioned it was the final season. Guess I should check out the website. Have really enjoyed the show since I have started watching it.

Why do people like this show? I never got into it or watched any of it.
I've seen some of the US version of queer as folk and I didn't like how it negatively portrayed gay men, bisexual men, and lesbian women in America.
I've never seen the UK version of QAF but I hear it's a lot better than the US version.
shameless-Don't be so hard on her. What if she lives with her parents or isn't out to whoever she lives with? I'm not that into buying TV shows on DVD and despite what people think the SF bay area isn't paradise or some magical land, and BLTG bigotry and bashings do happen there.

It's a serious question.
Keep in mind I've never seen the show at all.
I know one guy who is Italian American and he refuses to watch the Sopranos at all, not even one episode, because he feels that it portrays Italian Americans in a negative way with the mob/gangster stereotype, the obsessions with sex/food/wine, Italians in Rome, Roman Catholcism, and I'm part Italian and I don't find the show the Sopranos offensive at all.
While it's true that I can't personally relate to women's bodies, I don't know what it's like to have a vagina/uterus/clit/menstrate/have a woman's body, lesbian sex is so boring it doesn't turn me on and it's like watching the news, and I don't know anyone who owns the show on DVD, I don't get the cable channel the show is on, and I'm not into the whole dyke sexual political identity but I think it's fine if others identify with it and use dyke or lesbian as a political/philosophical term.
I did read a lesbian fiction book and I could relate to the women being butch or femme but this was in a stone butch/high femme relationship and I did relate to the scenes of vaginal/anal fisting and giving anal sex with fingers/tongues/toys.
I told a homosexual male friend of mine about this book and he joked that dykes who take on men's names and try to emulate the male gender/homosexual male sex just have penis and prostate envy!
The book was OK even if it was trite/glib because it didn't have a point, and poorly written; but it got rather absurd and the women in the high femme/stone butch relationships. There was one scene where the stone butch character just HAD to put her head into a trained lion's mouth just because the other butch woman who owned the lion did this and she had to step up!
The main character would say how she was so radically different than het couples/gender roles of men and women at the times the book took place; but the book was set in the 1950s-mid 1970s and there were scenes where a stone butch dyke would come home and she'd demand that her femme drop everything and fix Her butch's favorite cocktail/mixed drink!
These gender roles and relationships described in the book weren't that radically different than het ones and the Butch would go out and work (at a factory) while she demanded that her femme stay at home and be a home maker that takes care of the house.
Ward and June Cleaver anybody?
I don't mind if people do fall into these roles while in a relationship or if in a relationship with two people one person prefers to go out and make money while the other person prefers to and can actually afford to stay at home without working a job that brings in income; but even my gay male friends who are in relationships like this with children joke that it's just like they're in a 1950s het relationship.
Also, my penis is well, big and thick too, so that means that I can't possibly be a woman or a trans woman, and God didn't intend for me to be a woman according to one argument/viewpoint that I've seen posted here! :P ;)

I was just surprised, but that was why I suggested getting them online. As for the bay area, I'm well aware of the issues, I grew up there.

You know for the longest time now I have felt that you like to hear/ see yourself talk/type. I notice you often times post in threads that you are literally clueless about DD. And, because you think lesbian sex is so boring, and that it doesnt turn you on and its like watching the news , why must you even bother posting your male bullshit view ? Granted , its your right , but why ? Just because you can ? Im not sure of any other reason. If you can't relate to a topic , why make such statements ? It is a great show about lesbians, and their lives , their hopes , dreams , losses , struggles. It romanticizes love between women. Something your sure to not understand.
DD it is ok , not to post at every thread !

I just wanted an answer to a simple question, why people like the TV show.
Thanks for answering it finally.
Don't get all flippant, catty/bitchy (yes this is a pun!), and trite just because I wrote about gender roles in relationships, relationship roles that dykes have, lesbian sex that happens not to be vaginal-centric, and I wrote about the popular idea that one's sexuality creates a complete identity and defines a person.
If you think that the things that I write are a LOL "male bullshit point of view", trust me I'm being very mild compared to some of the opinions, viewpoints, and philosophies that deal with men only that are well known.
Also, I'm writing about women! LOL not men only.
If you can't keep up with the stuff I write or let your ignorance shine through with arrogance about the topics I write about like sexual-political roles and gender roles, just say so and I'll explain things further.
Or you can do your own research since you have an internet connection and can read about all sorts of topics online.
