I'm on the Doll Parts page! I know this probably means dick to you guys, but it means a hell of a lot to me. They're a local band I've been rabidly following for some time now. Saw them the first time as the Opening act for Circle Jerks.

Having several guitars in my house, and having attempted to learn a few other instruments, I can respect ANY musician who plays his instrument competently and/or excells creatively. Just as I can appreciate the work of Leonardo Da Vinci or Vincent Van Gogh.

That said, taste in music and art are very subjective things, and I try not to mistake creative greatness for personal greatness. Nor do believe in idolizing celebrities who are, quite often, no less flawed than ourselves.

But, if you like the music made by this particular band, then good for you. As long as you keep it in perspective, an interest in the arts can be a healthy thing.

It is one of those things about music---you can find this group or individual artist who just simply blows your socks off and you love them--if they have been around for some time--you wonder why in the hell you either had not found them or had gotten into their music before---and your friends, family lover or lovers just don't get what you see about that music!!!

I was like that with Over the Rhine from Cincinnati---I had known of them for a long time and even had a CD they had put out back in 2003 or so---I listened to the disc a great deal and liked their music but just never even thought to buy anything else they had put out---then in Oct '06--I saw them perform live for the first time and I went bonkers over them---

Since seeing them in the fall of '06--I have seen them like ten time in concert and have bought almost all of their releases going back over their 17 years of making music--I have never done that with any other group--but I don't have it as bad as some of their fans--there is this one guy who has been to something like over 800 of their performances all over the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Enjoy your group and their music Az!!!

It does go to show that music does have an ability to have a deep emotional and mental affect on us and you can never know why some music affects us so and other music--ya just can't stand.

I think you may have touched on something there...

Theoretically its possible that music (and art) could be used therapeutically. I hadn't considered that aspect of it, which is really quite an oversight on my part. Whilst most musicians don't possess any formal psychotherapy qualifications, perhaps none are necessarily needed in order to use music to communicate with a target audience, and thereby influence them.

Yes, a definite oversight on my part, I think.
