Hello everyone,
I don't know about you, but there are times when I have been seated in
a mainstream Church and felt that I am not welcome because I am queer.
I know that it is not God that is sending this message, in fact S/he
and I have a wonderful relationship. Always it is the intervention and
judgement of mankind that serves to segregate and islolate me. The
message that I hear is that I am loved, as long as I conform to the
rules that the church has decided are binding.
I have read and heard of many queer people that cut themselves off
from church community for these reasons. This is a sad situation
because we are all beautiful spiritual beings that should be free to
celebrate our spirit together.
This situation needs to be corrected, in fact there are organizations
and church groups that do not simply tolerate queer people, but fully
accept and respect them for their beauty. I am searching the web for
links and resources to help connect queer people with other spiritual
seekers and have found one I think you will like.
Travel in love and light,
Sal

If you're anywhere near Toronto there are inclusive churches here.
LGBT weddings take place in welcoming, friendly places all the time, the weekly ceremonies are all inclusive as well.

It is possible to be a spiritual being without supporting some bullshit religion that is fundamentally opposed to everything we (humans) do. I believe the Judeo/Christian/Muslim (blind) faith is a scourge on this planet. I have faith in the fact that they have annihilated my culture, along with most others. The whole idea is sickening and angers me greatly: "beleive in my god, or suffer"! ...YOU WHAT!?
Why would anyone who feels oppressed stand (or kneel) with one of the most oppressive religions? What do you need from religion or your church?

There are a number of faiths that openly and without judgement, accept GLBT and those of other similar designations such as the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalists---
There are also usually some independent local churches in most larger metro areas that are GLBT friendly/accepting.
This page has links to the various faiths that are GLBT friendly/accepting:

My faith isn't blind. It's been tested and came out truer than anything else I could put my trust in.
I know I am in a very small minority. Christian, not straight, and perfectly content- - what I "need" is the fellowship of those whom you have stereotyped as oppressive in response to the worst of that groups actions. . . I am not denying that wrong has been done under the guise of any religon, but what I am asking is that you consider that humanity was always going to pick on its weakest members, no matter how the cards came out. . .sometimes religon was used to oppress, but - - for some, religon was the best weapon that the oppressed ever had.

I may not be christian, but I fully understand what taylor is saying
it would be nice to fellowship with people with a common belief interest....and that is a simple belief in god... but without the added extras of the *religion* aspect
its not like every christian walks down the road looking for things to judge in gods name..... cos a lot of them would perfer to walk down the road with a smile, and the belief that if god wants to judge everybody, then let god do it.....
christianity and religion are not the same.....in the same way that being bisexual and bisexual activism is two different things

I am spiritual but not particularily religious---
Many of those churches on the list I provided are not so dogmatic and such and they are nice comnunities of people --there is power in people coming together in some sort of worship, meditation or similar things of this sort---
My problem with a certain number of those who profess faith today, is that so many of them are not merely content with holding to and practicing their beliefs, values and practices and such---they want to use the levers of the power of government to impose by force---- their ways of belief that they cannot get the rest of us to accept by the power of their persuasion and to follow by their good example.
To act in this manner is profoundly contrary to the true nature of Christianity they claim to love and here in the US--they seem to have no problem with gutting many of the freedoms we as Americans have come to accept as our birthright if those freedoms don't fit into their views of things---I have even heard some of the preachers on this side claim that "people do not deserve such freedoms--they will only achieve true freedom when they accept and give themselves over to the will of God!" or something of this sort. OF course--the will of God as determined by bozos like that guy.
That is why I say that they are not good Christians in the real sense of the term and they are hardly true lovers of democracy--contrary to their claims to be lovers and arbiters of both Christianity and Democracy.
The one thing that really steams me about the far religious right--that they claim THEY are victims of discrimination if they are not free to impose on the rest of us their narrow, limited version of Christianity and of the way they think we should all live our lives!!!

As Pagans, we get a lot of people in our religion who are either Gay or Bi and they are accepted without even the slightest interest in what their sexual orientation is.
Being a nature-based religion, and seeing as how it happens in nature, how could we not accept people with orientations other than straight?
To do so would go against some of our basic beliefs.

In doing some websurfing this morning--I found this very interesting web site:
http://www.therevealer.org/index.php
If you are interested in religious/spiritual matters considered from a more intellectual and analytical aspect--I urge you to check out this site--I find it a very refreshing and well done look at things religious.
There is also Beliefnet as well.
