Its become a yearly ritual. I decorate my deck. I have already started working on it. This year the theme will be a haunted house. Last year, it was pirates. Even had a body walking the plank. I dress up and greet the little kiddies. I try not to scare the little ones, but 10 or older is fair game. <smile>. I've sort of developled a reputation among the neighbors and friends. I never enjoyed Halloween much as a kid. I had to wait until I was an adult to act like a kid.

my cave grotto will be having a huge party on the Saturday before near Berea, Kentucky. You are not allowed to come as a caver, or as a little old woman/man in tennis shoes. I'll most likely be using my Cat in the Hat costume. I do enjoy dressing up and having fun with my girls. I'll also dress up for trick or treating and take my girls out.
Did you know that Halloween is the second most expensive holiday, Christmas being the first, of course? All those costumes, candy and house decorations add up!

I'm always amazed at how festive Americans get around Halloween.
In the UK, we usually make a lot less fuss (I'm not saying this about everyone in Britain, but its nowhere near on such a grand scale as the American Halloween).
And there's the very occasional Halloween party. Our family will carve out a pumpkin, get a bowl of sweets ready for trick or treaters and that's normally it for Halloween. We've thrown a small party once or twice, but they usually turn out a bit disappointing.
But I want to ask a question. Why do Americans take Halloween so much more seriously than us Brits?

We're going to Florence, AL for their Renaissance Faire. It's our favorite faire and we haven't been there in quite a while. So we're really looking forward to dressing up in velvets and brocades and breaking out the BFA (basic faire accent).
IF for some reason that doesn't come to pass we'll probably go to Meg'O'Ween. That's the big Halloween bash here in Melbourne.

Well, The Symphony I play for will be having a Pops concert near Halloween. It has become a tradition for both the Orchestra members AND the Audience to dress up in costumes for this concert. Defilitely different than th standard white tie & tails :)).
Still trying to figure out how to top my "green Space Alien" from last year....

i can never really get in any sort of holiday spirit. i've not really been able to see what the fuss was about AND all this overcommercialization and uberconsumption makes me kinda nauseous.
in the past, i used holidays as an excuse to drink... (pretty much anything was an excuse to drink in those days). but now, it's my wife and kids that drag me kicking and screaming into the holidays.

Bump and reviving...
I'm doing this - -The Fetish Factory Halloweeen Fetish Ball (http://www.fetishfactory.com/halloween/).
I even got a room for me to stay overnight as well.
I'm not even really a true fetishist, I just like dressing up.
I even bought a fucking RIDING CROP for this!

It is an openly non-Christian holiday, making it more open to all sorts of people. Its a holiday in which you don't have to be nice... hell, you don't even have to be yourself!

I have never been a Halloween fan. I love fall and decorate for that and just add some Halloween stuff.
Never really did anything until Flounder and I had our son. Now we are trick or treating and having to think up a costume every yr. Although so far, he's been thinking up his own. Last yr. he was Batman and this yr. he want's to be a bad robber cowboy as he calls it. He's got the cowboy hat and the red hanky to cover his face from nose down. He looks like Jessie James! :cowboy:

are you going to be burying a body? you sound defensive! lol
my husband and i are throwing a costume party. we'll also give out candy to trick-or-treaters, but there usually aren't many since there are much nicer neighborhoods that aren't near a high traffic street.

exotic erotic ball in san francisco.

awesome time. i'm wearing a satyr costume - furry legs, high-heeled boots, horns and thong. my wife wants me to wear a horsetail buttplug, but i'm not sure how long i can keep it in.
she's gonna be a butterfly fairy - wearing "nippies" on her nips and getting bodypainted butterflies.
i've honestly never been somewhere that was as fun or as free to be bisexual as the Ball.
cheers.

As a matter of fact, most people dress up to not be themselves and to be someone or something else.
This year, I will attempt to re-do my costume that looked so real and life like that I did 22 years ago and won 1st place at the party I went to. Even had a cop do a second then third look at me and actually ask if I was OK or needed any help.

Today I modeled my costume for my ex-boyfriend. . .as I put it on, I felt myself change... or maybe it's the props to go with it.
Another thread I guess?

We are foregoing the standard dress up party this year, instead we opted to go on a simple country hayride. This is on the prior saturday and most like will stay home on the actual holiday.
