So I went to the Toronto gay village for the first time with some friends the other day and it was super fun. That got us thinking, and we wanna start organizing monthly trips into the gay village for our University. Only problem is, is that I dont know much of whats going on. We have been making a list of things we could do, and so far we have:
- Dinner and Amature Comedy at Zelda's
- See a show at Buddies in Bad Times theater
- Some Clubbing later on
- Pub Crawl
That would be sufficient to fill up a 2 trips probably, but we need more activities. The night out is going to be open to anyone or any gender or orientation who just wanna have a good time. Some of the people around here are not 19 yet, so it would also be good to organise some things that dont require an ID to get in. Anyone from Toronto know of anything else we could add to the list, or a good site that lists things like this?

Try a meal at Oscar's... As in Oscar Wilde's.
I know it is in the village, but not sure of the address. It has been awhile since I have been there myself.

For a daytime frolic - go to the nude optional beach at Hanlan's Point... since it isn't even obligatory to strip down you don't even have to be particularly daring...
Check out the calendar at the 519 Centre ... (519 Church Street) ...some of the things they do might turn out to be interesting

Well, the university is about an hours trip to get downtown, so its possible just to go down there for some random fun, but it works alot better if you kinda plan out what your going to be doing. Also there isnt much of a solid gay community here (lots of gays, just unorganized) and lots of gays who are living in a big city for the first time. Going as a group is an easy way to do it, and it will help the gay men and women here get to know each other better, and form a bit more of a supportive community. Plus when you go as a group, you can get things like group rates on tickets and things like that. Its not so much like a school feild trip, as it is a bunch of us getting together and doing something together, be it a fun dinner, a show, or just some good old clubbing. And its always more fun in a bigger group. Its not like were gunna be like "everyone find a buddy and stay with the group". If you wanna leave the group and go do something else the thats cool, but for people going for the first time a bigger group can be a safer and easier experiance, and a good way to get to know the area.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I was looking more for things involving the gay community. There are always tons of people at the Uni doing thing like that, and I wanna make a outing more for the things that no one else will cover. Get people out to see a different side of TO, and give people who wold otherwise be to nervous or scared of being alone in a strange city the opportunity to venture into it in a secure environment.

I am assuming you are a student on one of the Universities in Toronto.
I would be surprised if there was not a gay / lesbian / bi group not already organized. Check out what the university has to offer.
I know McMaster has a group, they meet ever so often and set up events like you are talking about. Check it out online, or often there are flyers posted on campus.

There's a blast from the past... I used to work a few doors down from there in an adult shop, and I was "invited" to dance there by one co-worker and several patrons.
Oh, yeah, they wanted me on White-Shower Tuesday.
I did say no.

Actually a York student. And while there is a group called TBLGay, its mostly jut for support and spreading awareness on campus things and doesnt really cover this kind of thing. Other then that there isnt anything. York doesnt seem to have a strong gay community, but Im trying to help that a bit

Surprised to hear that -- when I was at York there was a pretty active group called GAY (Gay Alliance at York). Its predecessor was the York University Homophile Association (YUHA), which I am told was originally the York University Homophiles Union (YUHU), a name changed when wags would walk by its open door and shout in falsetto, "Yoo-hoo!"

TBLGay might just be an evolution of the group you are talking about. I imagine the wanted to expand the "Gay Alliance at York" to include Bisexual, Transexual and Lesbian (in the title and in the group). Ive looked into it and it is the only major group on Keele campus (I think there is a group called Positive Spaces at Glendon). I dont know too much about it as the office doesnt open until tomorrow and I havent got a chance to visit yet, but the website is very subpar and out of date and from what I can tell from the gay York facebook groups, the gay community is not at its best atm. I gunna try and do all I can to fix that though :tong:
