What's blowing your skirt up musically?
My profile has a list of all sorts of stuff I like.
For me it's AFI, Tsunami Bomb (Emily Whitehurst is everything my ex girlfriend was trying to be), Tiger Army, Reverend Horton Heat and Paramore.
Either I love their music or really want to stick the singer.
Nah, both :)
Here's the lyricists that melt my heart these days. In order from top to bottom:
Mr. Davey Havok, Emily Whitehurst, Nick 13, Jim Heath and Hayley Williams

Sure, they're hot, but it's the emotive power of their words that really kills me. Honest.

No better way to reason with someone than an oxy-acetylene rig
And I am GOOD with a torch.
I's on it ;)

Been catering to the muse lately so mellower than usual. Been listening to a lot of Dylan, Tori Amos, Dar Williams (her version of comfortably numb is great!) a bit of jazz Brubeck and Monk mostly and I just came across "what light" from the new Wilco album. It's beautiful and elegant in it's simplicity. It's all about being an artist dealing with self doubt. Exactly what I needed at this juncture

I'm going through a Jewel Kilcher phase atm. Soppy, I know, which is quite out of character for me. But she's got a great voice, and is very "emotionally honest". Quite pretty too, which doesn't hurt.

Nine Inch Nails... Reznor's music has had a death grip on my soul from the minute I heard Eraser... In the back of a used Bell van, laying on top of a load of fresh corn, listening to a friend's walkman... Yup, I remember the moment. I knew I liked music before that, but god damn that song hit me like a ton of bricks.

Evanescence... Esp. The Open Door. Fallen was OK, but The Open Door is just all sorts of cool. Some of the best-executed music I've heard in a long, long time.

Finger Eleven... Them Vs. You. Vs. Me is just wicked. I like their other music, sure, but it's mostly the same song over and over, all the way back to the days of Rainbow Butt Monkeys. (No, I didn't make that name up.) The new album steps up their game a couple notches... Much more clever than the older stuff.

Nickelback... All The Right Reasons. Good solid rock, not ashamed to be a little silly and fun and damn hard pounding. (Rockstar... What's not to love?)

Tragically Hip... Scattered songs here and there. New Orleans Is Sinking, of course, and Little Bones, but I love Grace, Too and a few other random ones. I dunno if the trick is to get the singer higher or to sober him up...

Benny Benassi... particularly I Love My Sex and Who's Your Daddy. If I need to put a smile on my face those two songs can make me giggle and get my heart pumping.

White Zombie, and specifically More Human Than Human. If I want to wake up every fibre of my being, I get myself somewhere that I can be alone and crank the music way the fuck up and rock right out. I wish that Sean Yseault would make new music.

Anyway. I've probably gone on long enough. :)

Well, lately, I've also been quite enamoured with the lead singer of "Hanoi Rocks", Michael Monroe. He's the blonde... er... guy in this photo:

Bear in mind that the band was formed in the 1980s, when such fashion statements were considered more socially acceptable... even amongst straight men.

One of their songs:
