View Full Version : My friends list is shrinking!

have this habit when people snub me(this is a euphemism for pee in my cheerios) to delete them from my life. I'd been noticing that some friends on MySpace I had NO idea had an account here, but knew I had an account, didn't even say "Hello! Want to add?" These peopel I tend to avoid, block, forget or run from because when asked they offer the strangest platitudes.
Then there are the people with over 200 flipping friends! WTH?? No one, and I mean not even the most popular cheerleader from a huge school, can have that many friends. At best you have3-9 good friends and the rest just want to say they know you. Most of the time it's because you have a gnarly picture, you're female and they want to show your pix on their MySPace (kinda like having a wallet with those stock pictures of people and saying "That's my girlfriend!" type thing), or in general it's like a Pokemon thing...they want show how many they caught on their Pokedex.
Why do I mention this, well hell...it bugs me royal when people who say they like you will go out of their WAY to criticize you because it suits them. To judge you when you don't judge them..and then to act as if you are another number and easily replacable.
Well ok..to those I kicked off, yeah..I am sure I am replacable. Why not? No one is stapling you to the computer chair to reply to my hellos...you don't have to worry about someone gluing your face to the screen when I post a bulletin and you don't want to respond. But if you give me an ounce of attitude when I don't reply to every little thing then Quid Pro Quo...Stop demanding what you don't want to repay in kind.
Much of life is voluntary activities..no one is there with a whip and taser to make you do it. But if you want to be a Debbie Celebrity you're gonna have to start signing some autographs to pass out...IE respond!! Same goes for the guys. Sit down and type how much you enjoy chatting with people and stop hunting for odd bulletins to repost because you want to see how many people think you're nice, sexy, whatever when they REpost you're doo-doo.
Sorry for the rant.

Its allright for the rant, I wholeheartedly agree with you on the myspace thing! I mean if your a guy and you have 200 friends on your page your a whore an if your a girl with 200 friends on your page your obviously a slut.
I say keep your page to private so you can controll who is adding you and that way your life will be simpler. I have and I really dont hand out to my myspace page to anybody unless i know them since it is also connected to my email!
As far as I know I could care less about myspace. I just find it handy when I need to get events and stuff for when friends send invites to parties.
But yea thats really about it.

About a third of the people on my 120 friend list are people I know here in Florida or friends who moved elsewhere. The rest are bands. This is why I resisted myspace for so long cause people take that stupid shit so seriously. I don't care if anyone's bugged by the fact that they're not in my 'top friends'. It's a fucking WEBSITE! Oh, and I aint a whore. Just friendly to a fault.

I don't think you understand.....
Myspace is evil. E.V.I.L.-evil! It's so evil it's pronounced evieeel. You see, it's not just a website anymore. Myspace has become self aware. And it feeds and thrives on the torment it creates in it's users. It's like a website vampire. It's a webpire. Go ahead-test it. Pour holy water into your computor-it will smoke and then catch on fire! Go ahead, try it.
Evieeel...

Well--on Myspace--my "friends list" is fast approaching the 400 range--and I do not know very many of them--I only really know about perhaps ten people on there---but I have been populating my list with musical groups, artists, writers, photographers and the like--now it has reached a point that I don't have to solicit friends now--I have musical artists and others who ask to be added to my list---
It is kind of fun to be able to make contact in even some limted fashion with some of my long time favorite muscial artists-- and to learn of really incredible new ones trying to build a fan base---
I really think that if used correctly--sites like MySpace and Facebook can be really great things---but of course there are downsides to them---especially for younger people who might fall prey to sexual or other "predators" thanks to such sites----

I mean if your a guy and you have 200 friends on your page your a whore an if your a girl with 200 friends on your page your obviously a slut.
why are you a whore or a slut just because you may know a lot of people? it doesn't mean you fucked them all...
until recently i had over 200 people on my friends list. except for 3 or 4 celebs, i have known these people for quite some time and was very good friends with the majority of them. but a couple of weeks ago i was snubbed by a friend of mine who has screwed me over in the past and i went delete crazy. all the people who i hadn't spoken to in a while, for whatever reason, i deleted. all the people who were pissing me off at the time, i deleted. the people that i was friends with, but i couldn't trust the way i could others, i deleted. and so on...
so, yeah, i too have recently become one of those people who is just deleting people out of my life. i guess you reach a point in life when you realize that some people just aren't worth your time, and aren't worth the space on your page :tong:

What makes you say that someone's a whore or a slut if they just collect friends on dating/networking sites?
I'd hate to think of your standards for REAL whores and sluts!
I'm not on myspace or Facebook. But I am on other dating/networking/social sites and on two seperate sites I do have 200 people on each in my buddy list but again most of these people I have either had write to me, chat with them, or they'll comment on my blog writings on those sites.
I agree with rissababynta, I've also been known to delete someone or just remove them suddenly since they don't bother to write to me or keep up any communication at all.

On Facebook, I have 109 friends, and I'd probably be well over 200 if more people I knew were signed up. And these aren't just "people I met once or twice", these are people I knew well enough at some point in my life for it to be entirely natural to just call them up and say "Hey, wanna hang out?"
Which I find funny, because I'm not exactly the most sociable person.

See? Webpire. Nosferwebtu.
Know-it's okay. I have a plan.
We gather all the pitchforks and torches (if you live in Florida please try and remember to also bring your machetes) that we can, find it's Heart of Darkness and drive a very large stake through it's Impure Being.
Okay?
Now, I'm free Saturday, is that cool with you?

I'm up for it. Just let me know when and where. I'm no Webpire Hunter, so how do we find its heart?

It's easy-we look for a very large concentration of people who have their Myspace address printed on their business cards. These are the hounds that serve the Beast. They protect it while it sleeps during the day and feed it by spreading word of it's powers.
Also be on the look out for people who instead of comparing the size of their genitals like daywalkers, compare the size of their friends list. They are under the thrall of the Webpire. They would seek to thwart our plan.
And no one gets any pictures unless they have a pitchfork and help!
(Also, if anyone has a spare silver stake-or pike, beggars can't be choosers-about six feet long, may we please borrow it for a while, we promise to wash it off afterwards. Contact JoyJoyHollywood-Thanks!)

Funny side note...on MySPace I am now posting more blogs and feeling better about keepign a journal of some sort. Loads of problems in my life seem to shrink when I write about it somehow, whether is be the fiction I write or the journal I am keeping now. WIthout the people who haven't proven themselves to me present to look, I feel better about being able to open myself up and write it out. Guess I should always listen to my inner voice, eh?
