Nah, throwing firecrackers at each other is MUCH more fun!
Thanks for the well-wishes sweetie :) We're having a bunch of teenagers over and we're setting off fireworks so it should be loads of fun!

The 4th is always a little bittersweet for me, since I'm just old enough to remember the pre-1965 America (albeit through a child's eyes) and, honestly, I think it was better. I still love the US, but it's a kind of exasperated love -- old Sam is still my favorite uncle, but I just hope he pulls himself together a bit and remembers that we're still all depending on him. In the meantime, I wish him a heartfelt happy birthday!
