There are gay bars, lesbian bars, and without a doubt tons of straight bars. Are there any bi-sexual bars that cater specifically to that crowd? Any bars that don't advertise as being such but it's common knowledge the clientelle is bi? Just wondering because it's hard to meet a nice young couple in a bar and know if they're both into it without asking. it would be nice to know they were because they were simply in a bar that is known for being bi-friendly. Thanks!

Well I would say that most "Gay and/or Lesbian Bars" are GLBT friendly all around. I know plenty of bi men and women that go to the gay bars. I did a quick search for "Bisexual Bars and Pubs" and got this, so hope it helps!

There was a bar in Ottawa that advertised as a "bias-free zone" that (at least on the nights my friends went) seemed to be pretty much a bisexual bar... Like 90% of the clientele was bi. And then they renovated and then closed down and they're long, long gone. :(

We tend to agree with the fact that most gay & lesbian places are GLBT. One here in the city even holds dances and events for bi's. It is know as a gay resort but is very accepting of all who respect each other. Any pride site in your area could provide you with more information. Usually Pride websites are at least partly funded by owners of GLBT businesses that advertise on the site.

For awhile, in the 90s, a lot of the hipper places (straight or indifferent) in NYC had "backrooms", which were sometimes not very far in the back at all. They were completely black inside. Youd step in and walk slowly till your hands felt...what? A shoulder in a sweather, a handfull of long hair, a firm, sweaty tit, a cock? You'd touch, lick fondle & suck, enjoying the smell of sweat & beer & sperm & pussy, and when you'd had enough you stepped out.
Fear of AIDs got rid of those places, though.

I haven't been able to visit it yet, but there is a bisexual-themed night in Toronto called Hermaphronite, on the second and fourth Saturdays at a place called the College Street Diner. There is also a club called Goodhandy's that describes their Saturdays as "Pansexual Night".

there was one in rochester ny about 10 yrs ago called 'common ground'. long gone. went once and it was kinda skanky and unwelcoming. i stick to the gay bars if and when i want to go out. at this point, i rarely feel comfortable in breeder bars- even though the last many relationships i've had have been hetero in gender coupling.

ick, I'm not into swinging at all, and the idea of joining a club just seems so 1970s/early 80s. It reminds me of that movie by Ang Lee based on Rick Moody's novel called THE ICE STORM.

I don't want to be around a lot of shallow people on drugs (is tina AKA crystal meth as popular among swingers as it is among some gay men?), some who are older and trying to reclaim their lost youth from the days before HIV/AIDS was discovered, many who are closeted bisexuals or who are homophobic hetero men who just want sex with two women at the same time, people who are looking for sex and sex only, and getting with the flavor of the week or the newest hottie before moving onto the next person, er victim. Oops! did I write that? *blush*

most gay bars/clubs are bi friendly places, despite what people think or what's been written on this thread so far.

Just because the majority of people in a gay bar are homosexual it doesn't mean that everyone that goes to a gay bar/club is homosexual. I see pretty twinky boys drag in their hetero fag hags and fruit flies all the time.

Do most people who've posted on this thread go to gay bars/clubs, or did you at one point?

I've been to many gay bars/clubs, and honestly it's not a big deal and nobody's ever told me "sorry you're bi so you don't belong here. Go sit on the fence on the farm down the road!"

Queer men do not hit on every man we see. A gay bar looks and sounds like a straight bar, except maybe the music is a little better, and these days that's iffy.

I'll take classic rock, early/mid 90s dance music, and trance over remixed hip hop/rap and Madonna/Kylie's newest single. ABBA is kitschy and corny but they remind me of Jr highschool. :)

Also, despite how you've seen gay bars in movies like LOL Cruising with Al Pachino or on that TV show Queer as Folk the majority of gay bars aren't
that way.

Everyone thinks that there's huge orgies going on in gay bars/clubs across the country, or how if you go to the bathroom in a gay bar you WILL get cruised/propositioned for public sex. Or that public sex does go on in the bathrooms of gay bars/clubs. No, that usually doesn't happen. (We sometimes wish!)

Yes, there are some hole in the wall dive leather bars where there are back rooms where public sex goes on; but you have to go by the dress code and it's well known what goes on there, and you know that it's that type of place.

Anyway even if someone DOES cruise you or blatantly say to you "hey you're hot! what are you doing right now? want to go have some car sex?" you can always say no thanks, or if you are interested in hooking up say yes.

But if you do say no thanks nobody will be offended even if they do wish that you'd said yes or given them some glimmer of hope. :)
