Idenity Theft!!!

Hi y'all, Well as some of you found out the other night in the chatroom i was the victim of some idenity theft.. Some how they gott our account nnumber and almost have ruined us.. Im not saying anything a lot of y'all don't allready know. But PLEASE be CAREFULL with your personal info. AS Mcgruff the crime dog once sasid dont let this happen to you!!! And as a result im not sure know when ill get the new computer beacause of this SOB... Anyhow y'all be carefull out there :bipride:

I thought the same thing darkeyes, til we got hit by a conman a few years ago.

He purported to be a business manager and we hired him to help with bringing our business out of the red. He opened numerous online accounts, and ran up debts all over the place, in our business name. He opened several credit cards but couldn't get much there because our credit was so bad. It took me MONTHS of telling UPS, FedEx, several online catalogues, etc that NO we didn't authorize that account, and NO we weren't going to pay the bill, before they finally listened to me. It helped that the FBI got involved and he's in the federal prison now after I did their work for them and tracked him down after three years on the lam.

Even people who are very careful can get screwed. How many times have we heard about this institution or that business (including the VA Medical System, multiple universities, etc.) who have had breaches in security and/or someone lose a laptop with all kinds of private information on it. I think we need to take back our identities and eliminate the use/selling of our information on the internet. I liken this to having money and letting someone else use your money and determine how it will be stored, who can use it, etc. Like we have no control over our own back accounts. This cannot go on...
