Pictures in your profile is a plus. A lot of people looking to hook up will click on your profile, see there is no pic, and wont even bother reading the rest due to lack of picture. Its a rule a lot of people live by.

Second, I would recommend increasing your visibility and expose yourself a little. I noticed that this is the first time you posted on the forums. Many people looking for hook ups dont just randomly browse the profiles. There are sooo many profiles on this site that your hope of hooking up that way is slim to nil. Also, there are many inactive profiles on the website, and posting helps people separate you from the mass of inactive profiles.

Those are the 2 best things I can think of. Good luck in finding someone Junior!

What LoveLion says is correct.
I know for the fact I HATE HATE seeing a profile which I think is a good match for me BUT they are inactive and had been for quite some time. Pretty much tells ya they probably aren't looking anymore and forgot to remove thier profile.

When your posting on forums and in chat, your letting people get to know you more, plus it also tells you that they have been active on the site recently.

I make it a habit sometimes to check when the user last logged on the site (this one and other dating sites) cause if its been awhile then Im not gonna waste my time looking at thier profile.... if its recently, then I'll read it.

PHOTOS GET MOST VIEWS. <------- Thats a rule these days.
People often search for profiles with photos. doesn't have ot be a naughty one... They just want to have a face to go with the profile.
I know I skip the non-photo ones cause I like to see a face.

Yes Im aware sometimes its a good idea NOT to post a photo if it can cost you your job or you don't want anyone you know (family, friends, coworkers...etc) to recongize you.
But still... profiles are gonna get more noticed with a photo than those without.
