With all the new airport "can and can't" bring on planes rule.... I have a question.....

Has anyone traveled recently and packed a sex toy with them? Could be something big or just a small vibe.

Is it safe to carry with you? I know its safe in a checked bag but what if your travelling light and just taking a carryon ??

would they want to take it out and make sure its nothing bad? lol I know if you have computers or camera, they sometimes make you turn it on and Im not sure I wanna turn on a vibe in public!! Nor do I want anyone to see it lol

Just curious is all :)

July.. back East to Ontario for my cousins wedding.
None of them are metal except the parts that the batteries go in.
Thinking of taking a play toy.... if I have no one else to go with.
But then, if I do have someone to come with me it could be interesting........

I've taken trips where I only had a carry on bag and it was packed with a variety of sex toys.(vibes, nipple clamps, dildos, my trusty feeldoe) Never had anything taken out to be inspected, although it wouldn't faze me in the least if that happened. I'd recommend taking the batteries out, just in case. I had a vibe once, one of my faves, that had a control panel on the bottom, even in my nightstand drawer it was always bumping up against stuff and turning itself on. For sure if my suitcase was buzzing as it rolled across the belt they'd have wanted to see what was in it. lol

I'm sure the airport screeners see all kinds of stuff like this multiple times every day. I used to manage a video store that had a killer porn section. I'd have friends ask if it was weird to see what movies people are renting. I'd always answer truthfully, after a while it all sort of blends together and you don't even notice if someone's picking up a porno or the latest blockbuster. I figure the same principle applies for the airport folks.

I took a sex toy with me to Philly to see my (now) ex boyfriend. No problem either way. Took it as a carry on the return. The tin my toys were in flew open!!! But the TSA agent ( a black woman, like me) said it was perfectly fine and what I had was down right school-marmish compared to other things she'd seen.

No worries.

I just wondered cause airports seem sticter and stricter... understandable but sometimes it becomes a pain you wonder what the heck CAN be in a carryon lol

Tasha,
I don't think its a problem. I haven't carried anything onboard with me but have checked things a number of times.
As far as checking, I know onewhocares has brought things onboard and welcomes any "searches" most of the time, they don't search but she told me that they have. so be ready if you want to carry things on...

tasha, i too think you'll be ok .. i have a very powerful LED flash light [ 3 triple A's = 3 watts output, coast cutlery] that goes with me everywhere and as much as i travel, while it shows up on the machine , the batteries are still in it, and they haven't asked me to "disarm" it yet.. or tried to take it away... tho they did have a bit of trouble with the electric heating pad i carry for my back and knees...

one word of advice tho... if you have more than about $1.50 in change in there take it out.. it just shows up as a blob and they get antsy...

Take the batteries out beforehand. You don't want the vibrator to accidentally turn on in your luggage and have people think it's a bomb!

Also, you shouldn't keep batteries in your toys unless you're using them as this makes the batteries wear down faster than if you take them out afterwards and only put them in when you're going to use the toy.

Ya, I never leave the batteries in... I had a small flashlight that I loved soooo much.... then I put it away and found it a year later... well, the batteries blew up or something completely ruining the flashlight :(
Since then, I have never kept batteries in things I don't use every day. Instead I'll have the batteries nearby so its THERE when Im ready to use the item.

Everytime I take my son to the airport to go visit his father, I have to go through security and get my purse scanned, and the last time I went, They stopped my purse in the machine and called other security over cause I guess they wanted to have numerous opinions of what it was they were looking at on the screen. Then they informed me they would have to search my bag... So one's fishing through my bag with 3 other security onlookers and the one said " Ha! I got it!" and then they opened it, gave it a twist and .....nothing happened, cept a lipstick popped up. So they threw it back in my bag, zipped it up and Upon seeing the look on their face, I said " Sorry to disappoint" snatched my bag and walked away.

My opinion, you can carry them, but there may be gaurds that want to just try to embarrass the shit out you.

Fran.. I can't even imagine what they would do with a girl, wearing a tampon and daisy dukes. They would probably contain her for having a fuse up her twat, or pull the ripcord to see if she inflates.

Not that they don't have a serious job thats very important, they just need to have better people skills.

This last year it has gotten truly idiotic in many ways. You can't have a lighter or a matchbook, a fullsize tube of toothpaste or bottle of shampoo, they have to inspect your shoes...

Yeah, clever but twisted people have had all these things and managed to make them threats. I bet the guy with the bic lighter had thumbs he used to strike it, too. Gonna ban those?

I sympathize with the TSA cos they have an unpleasant job, like cops, and no matter how stupid the latest rule is they have to enforce it, again like cops. Somewhere in their senior chain of command, someone is trying to make rules substitute for vigilance and judgment, and the bottom line is that it simply is NOT gonna work. It's only gonna get more invasive and less sane.

Airport Securtiy is much more strict now. I heard they are even now having X-rays where they see inside your clothing.

Fran that reminds me of a story, Not to long ago, Hubby and I were traveling on the expressway, when someone zoomed by in the HOV (carpool) lane with a blow up doll as the second passenger. Open mouth. head bouncing of the passenger window.. LMAO.. I laughed and shortly forgot about it, when a few miles up saw the guy pulled over by the cops, standing outside his car, holding his blowup doll.. Bet he got more than one ticket that day..lol

thats still in the experimental stage, and it's gonna cause major issues with folks who have joint replacements or metal reinforcements in their bones [ screws, pins, plates, etc]

did anyone else think of the security scanner scene in the schwarnznegger movie about going to mars?? sorry the name of it escapes me.

Would it also cause issues with magnets??
Im worried cause my cochlear implant is implanted but its also a magnet to hold the outside part too.... when I have x-rays done, I need to be careful it isn't gonna damange the magnet.

Ahh but I agree tho... its gonna cause problems.. they aren't thinking I guess :(

tasha,
find the website for the canadian version of TSA and browswe thru it to see what they say about your implant.. seriously i doubt you'll have to take it out.. my boss wears hearing aids in both ears and he just buzzes thru.. myself and two co workers aren't so lucky.. the metal in our bodies sets the sainted machines off almost every time @ SEATAC and Altanta because they have the damned things turned up to PARANIOD/ Ridiculous.

we haven't reached the TOTAL RECALL / 1984 stage yet, but as others have said elsewhere here and other places, some think it easier to regulate legislate than to actually engage their brains and act prudently.

Last time we flew, it was my husband and myself, along with our then 4 month old baby. Let me tell you, it was a pain in the ass getting shoes, change, belts, bags, stroller, car seat, blankets and baby toys all put on the belt with one person holding the baby.

It was an even bigger pain in the ass when I had to get it all put back together again, with a line growing behind me and the baby in hand, all by myself. They held my husband for 10 minutes in that little plexi glass box because he had an athletic brace on his knee! most of that time, there wasn't even anybody with him. what a farce! :banghead:
