Why do people put more effect in lieing than telling the truth. It just seem so funny to me that some people spend more time lieing than they do being happy.

I always speak the truth.... nothing but the truth.
Although my honestly tends to get me in trouble cause I'll tell people the truth even if they didn't want to hear it lol

I don't know because it doesn't make sense. There are so many things you have to remember when you lie to other people. I have enough trouble remembering the real things in my life let alone made up things.

lol... yep.
White lies are ok sometimes.... like if your planning a surprise but your trying to steer the person away from finding out about it so you have to lie to get them thinking something else.

I quite agree.I have trouble remembering things that happen for real that I find it impossible to lie. :paw:

Depends on what your reason is behind lying ...

Sometimes we lie to defend ourselves or others. Those seem to be the best constructed lies due to what is at stake. Think of people who hid Jews during the Holocaust. Yes, many were caught and killed, but among those who wern't? They worked hard to maintain the lie. Even less noble lies are carefully constructed. . .while a career is not life, for many it comes close.

Lying out of habit. That can range depending on how experienced you are. I know I can be quite the liar if need be. But really, how often do I need to?

The concept of always telling the truth is a good and honorable one--but let's face it--in reality--it does not always work out so well---

And as far as secrets are concerned----some things are best left a secret----I don't expect to have to know everything else about another person---

If telling the truth were really a valuable thing in our culture--everything would grind to a screeching halt--most of the the way we do things in the world today are falsehoods--like that the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink is all safe and that so are all of the drugs we are told we need--

The war in Iraq has been one big lie and the truth about everything surrounding it is too----

Nope---all we can basically hope for is a relative truth----but not an absolute truth---in fact--philosophers have grappled with this topic for thousands of years----

It's this way on just about any subject you can name---

And as Bill Clinton said--the truth to you really comes down to what your "definition of what is, is!"

I think that people are so concerned sometime what others think that they "lie" or tell something that isn't true to make others happy. Then there are the true liers who say something that is patently false for some selfish reason. Why? I don't know. They obviously have problems with the truth.

Generally, I always tell the truth or avoid answering the question..

This way I can categorically say that I do not lie
