If you found $100.00 on the ground, what would you do with it?

stand and yell, who lost this?
If no one responds. . . take care of buisness with it.
Once I found $13. I bought myself lunch and a bag of chocolate for my co-workers (I worked at a restaruant at the time).
This time, I'd probably buy a book, some film (I'm taking old school photography), some food and save the rest.

The old joke is to say a prayer urging God to take the money and return it to its lawful owner. Then you throw it all into the air, and whatever He doesn't keep is yours.
If there were accompanying ID, or some other means of locating the true owner, I'd return it. If it were on a street somewhere, say, in downtown Toronto, without any ID, etc. then I'd assume the chances of its ever being returned to its owner to be zero, and would probably just keep it.
That said, I remember hearing some years ago that you could take lost cash to the police with information on the date, time, location, that you found it, etc., and if no one establishes to the department's satisfaction that he or she is the rightful owner within 30 days, you get it back anyway. I doubt that many people losing money bother to report it to the police, however, unless they clearly suspect theft.

Bad me would buy gifts for people and good me would give it to charity.....provided as Biwords said, there was no way of knowing the owner.

Just finding it out on the ground on the sidewalk or parking lot??
Keep it--how would you be able to find the real owner? Everyone would say -"Oh yeah--I lost a hundred bucks!"

I'd keep it.
I've found $10-20 bills in public and in bars lying on the ground and I just saw it as a gift from the universe. :) ;)

Put me in the same boat as 12Volt. I'd pocket it, and then run to the nearest liquor store.

I would return it to the owner if that person was near by, but if it was a windfall that crossed my path, I would use the money to put gas in my truck, a small gift for my wife and be sure to drop $25 in the basket at church. Boring, but that's how I roll. :)

I would keep it. But if it was a purse with the money in it I would find the owner. But money floating around has no owner as far as I am concerned.

well if there was any way to reasonably identify the owner such as the money was in a bag, briefcase, purse etc then I would try my best to return it---
Hell-one time--I was follwing behind this truck--he had a wallet sitting up on the bed rail and it fell off--I stopped and picked the wallet--then was able to catch up with the owner--he did not like being followed and chased--
I found his phone number in the wallet-it was his cell phone--I told him I had his wallet and to come get it but he told me to fuck off!!!
I called back and said go to the local city PD when you finally realize your wallet is gone--I will leave it there--I guess he finally got his wallet back the dumb ass!!!!!

Well it just so happens that this really did happen to me once. While walking out with two of my buddies from the dormitory on campus on our way out for the evening a strong gust of wind blew a C-note straight into my chest. I looked down thought it was a dollar bill at first and was dumb-founded to see it was a hundred buckS! Now did any one of us think of any of replies above? Hell no! We went to the local bar where I bought drinks for all for the evening while playing numerous games of backgammon. I thought it was just my good karma working....

I never did find a one hundred dollar bill but one day I was at the beach and there was some trash laying about--there was a bag from a fast food place crumbled up and I was about to throw it away but heard some change clanging in the bag so I opened it up---not only was there some change in the bag but a fifty dollar bill, a few tens, twenties, fives and ones that totalled about 90 bucks--I pocketed it and enjoyed the day figuring someone might come up and ask about the money--they never did--
I figured it was their fine for having left trash on the beach!!!!!

I too would have tried to find the owner if the money was in a wallet or purse or had some addresse/number money clip on it.
If its just laying there all alone then I'll use it and buy presents for my friends and family too :-)
Sometimes its nice to find lonely money, especially if your haveing a bad day lol
But if it has a owner cause its in a wallet or money clip clearly labelled then its proper to return the money to the rightful owner.

"Lonely money" ....LOL!!
I LIKE that! :tong:
One time, many years ago, when we were really broke and down to no money at all til payday, I pulled an old jacket out of the closet that I hadn't worn in probably 2 years and decided to wear it that day. When I put my hand in the pocket, there was a $20! We made it til payday with that.

What if it was $25,000, held together with a plain rubber band and no identifying information?

Now THIS is the best response ever. :)
Why keep 100.00 when you have lots of money?? Why not give it to a homeless person that clearly needs it to feel themselfs or maybe buy newer clothes.
I remember coming out of a resturant last year, I had leftovers with me and realized I needed to do errands BUT it was way to hot that summer day to leave it in the car. (where it would spoil eww)
I saw a homeless woman, just sitting there by the wall minding her own business. She had a hat in front of her but she wasn't begging, just watching people and the traffic and clearly looked hungry.
I gave her my leftovers and she smiled and thanked me. I stopped further down at a bookstore to look at a book in a cart outside and just happened to turn my head sightly in time to see her clearly enjoying her meal :)
Made me happy that day to know I fed a homeless person. :)

Or how about contacting the police to see if domronr , who could be very needy may have lost it. Giving away someone else's money is hardly an altruistic act.

If you found $100.00 on the ground, what would you do with it?..well...a brother found a $100 bill lying on the floor @ my lodge...he stuck it on the bulletin with a tack...it hung there for over a month until the owner came back from vacation & found it hanging there...
