Okies I need help from someone that KNOWS Jewerly and has sold Jewerly on Ebay in the past.
Ive been trying to sell this pocket watch on Ebay, after 4 times and still no bids I don't know what Im doing wrong.
I have described the item the best I could, even pointed out the damage thats on the Watch's box it comes in with. Its in perfect working condition too having been used for just a year and abanonded for no reason.
(I had bought for my ex who decided he didn't want to use it anymore and it was NOT a cheap pocket watch, I believe it costed me 300.00 in 2004 lol) I was listing it on ebay for cheap tho... 100.00 the lowest.
The pictures below are the best I could do. My digital camera refuse to take any closer "close up" shots.
ADVICE please!! :)

Have you taken it to a jewelers to have it appraised and make sure it's worth what you're asking for? Maybe if you do that and include that information it will strike up some interest. Sometimes things have to age more to be appreciated and get their value back also.

I sell on ebay all the time. It is to bad you cant get a closer pic. But even at that you can still see it is a nice pocket watch. You need to do a little research on the maker. Bring up the appraisal value in the ad as arana suggested(if it is valued over the $100 you are hoping to get). Always 'glam' up the description making it appear a great value. (mention that their is no wear, or scratches on the face, is the chain such and such karat of gold, functions of watch, movement...quartz, swiss, etc.) And if you can find a similar watch for sale on the net for the approximate price you are hoping to get maybe provide that info in your ad. A lot of times unless it is something you cant find to readily a $100 may appear a high amount to start with. You may never get your moneys worth out of Ebay since pocket watches are not commonly wore by men these days. Unless your a collector there probably isnt much interest. You just may have to give it as a gift to someone who you appreciate as a friend.
I hope this has been helpful : )

We have been selling on ebay for about ten years. In our opinion it isn't what you are selling, it is where you list it. Do a search on ebay for the same name brand watch. Look at the search results, some will have bids and some won't. Then look at the heading where the item is listed. Post your item where people are getting bids, obviously that is where buyers are looking. You can sell anything on ebay if you list it in the right area. We have seen a dead bug in a box sell for $10. I found an old token in the dirt and listed it. It sold for $32. Two weeks after the guy bought it he emailed me and asked what it was. He bid on something he didn't even know what it was. He loved it but didn't know what it was. Good Luck.

Okies thanks guys.
My digital camera is an Olympus Canon camera purchased in 2000... Its very old and if I try to do a close up, it doesn't want to or makes it very blurry.
Having tried my friends Heather's digital camera, she had NO PROBLEM getting very closed up shots!!
Im thinking its the camera models?? Hers was pretty new being bought in 2006.

Put up the link to the sale and I might just make a bid. I've got a steel pocket watch that I wear constantly and have kinda been wanting a gold one...

I've been selling on ebay on and off for years. I really think a closer pic would help. It also helps to start the bid at the very lowest amount you could live with for the watch. Some people start the bidding low and have a reserve amount (lowest they'll take for the item and if the bidding doesn't reach their reserve, it doesn't sell). I wouldn't suggest that, though. Most people hate reserves. And really pump up the description. Tell every little detail you can think of about the watch. People want to know everything about an item. I am continually amazed at what sells and doesn't sell on ebay. Things I think will bring a good price don't always, and things I figure won't sell go for a lot.
I once sold a Frute Brute squeaky toy (he was a premium for Frute Brute cereal which used to be part of the Count Chocula, Booberry, and Frankenberry line). I had brought him years before at a yard sale for 50 cents. I put him on asking $5. He got a bid, then the price kept climbing. It finally closed at $102.50. I received an email after the the toy arrived to the buyer. I was sweating opening it, figuring the man who bought it would be hollering for his money back. After all, who pays over $100 for a squeaky toy? But no, he loved it and thanked me profusely for offering it for sale on ebay!
Go figure.
Best of luck with your sale, Tasha!
