I got these links from someone on my herbalism board. The video is HIGHLY disturbing and I couldn't watch all of it.

I urge you to please sign the petition to stop the inhumane killing of dolphins and whales in Japan. We must speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

I signed. I couldn't watch the video. I have an affinity for dolphins and the idea of their slaughter makes me sick. What Japan has been doing with their whale hunting 'experiments' is criminal. :2cents:

I agree, but japan has been whaling for years and doesn;t care about petitions or the impact it has on their look to other people of the world. I know it is sad to think that they "japan" still need to harvest the oceans without regard for the rest of the human race. To them it is a logical way to make their businesses more productive. If you really want to stop them, you need to stop buy japanese cars and products, money talks... I commend you on your goal... you have a hell of a fight ahead of you.

I'll be glad to sign it, even though internet petitions are a complete waste of time. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.htm

But I wonder--how many folks here eat poultry, fish, or meat? There are some folks who subscribe to the theory that you can't call yourself an enviromentalist if you eat meat...

Could only watch about two minutes of the video. I read a news story about this very same thing.
The problem with Japan though, is that they paid/bribed some international group that controls this type of slaughter. to look the other way. If I can find the story in GOOGLE archives, I will send you a reference. In the meantime, I have signed the petition.

P.S. I just read that each live dolphin can bring in $30,000.00 (I guess American) and there are over 20,000 of these very intelligent creatures slaughtered each year. It dusturbs me that it has been proven scientifically that they have sensory development that includes pain and fear and it takes most of them over ten minutes to die. What a shit way to go.

It has been argued that dolphins are very nearly as intelligent as human beings. We simply have not learned how to communicate with them. For me it is not an environmental issue. It is about saving the lives of sentient beings.

Herbwoman...
I Googled for 'DOLPHINS AND JAPAN' and there was a never ending list of negative articles against Japan's government for facilitating this annual slaughter of dolphins. There are several videos of this atrocity anyone can choose from. But that is for someone with a stronger stomach than I.
