Chat problems

Hi everyone
I am new to the site and enjoy thus far all it has to offer.
My problem is with the chat link.
Iv'e opened my fierwall and opened the port 8080 and still recevie the msg that that chat can not open ....I've updated the java...Could someone lend some insite to what it is iam doing or not doing ?

I had that same problem on and off for weeks--suddenly it cleared up on its own---I have not freakin' idea what that is all about.....

One of those things that makes ya go..ummmm?????!!!!!!
