Knew that would get you attention. I dont ask for help often on the site, but now is when I really need it. So I had a urologist appointment today after more than a month of waiting. And it looks like I am going to have to get circumcised. The only other option is a less painful and easier "semi-circumcision" but that will most likly not fix the problem and I would have to get cut anyways after that. The Doc told me it was an operation he could do in his office, but there was 6-8 weeks of painful recovery!

So I need advice DESPERATELY! Has anyone here ever been circumcised (other than as a baby)? If so what can I expect as far as recovery and suffering? How long does it take to get used to? how do I masturbate? Did you miss your foreskin? Do you think its worth trying the other operation to try and save my skin? Please help me out here!

My husband "Flounder" who is also a member here was having problems also and was circumcised. He was 37. The urologist did it right in the office and yes, it was painful (just like any surgery is). He sat with ice and we had to wrap it with gauze due to bleeding. It was about 6 weeks before he was all healed. I don't think he misses his foreskin and he's very happy, I am also with what it looks like and how it feels. He's glad he had it done. As far as how it feels now....of-course I can't answer that but he doesn't seem to have any problems doing what he did before the surgery. Hope this helps you. :)

when i was a young boy, i have shorted my foreskin by myself, because it ditn't go back not enough. It was no problem. Always cutted a little piece, sewed the slit with cotton, let it heal and than the next piece.
It is good until today!

but that's my name!!

I really feel for u mate the very idea of being cut fills me with dread. I would take the least drastic option if it was me save as much tissue as possible.... the forskin is much more than excess skin and contains many pleasurable nerve endings. Have you thought about a 2nd opinion some dr's get things very wrong or are forced to take easy option for financial reasons.

I agree.

I think you should seek a 2nd opinion, there are ways around being cut and lots of doctors don't know about this. Sometimes in some cases, just simple stretching can relieve a problem.

There is a topical steroidal treatment that my son was given. I was skeptical, but indeed, it worked. The urologist gave him the treatment for 6 months, but we were done in 3 when he was able to fully retract.

Have you tried that?

Iv tried the stretching for a few years now and have tried to stretch it as much as possible. Alas, no different has developed from the stretching.

I read that biandu sent me and it sound like no fun at all. 4 super painful needles in the head, followed by laser cutting and 6 weeks of painful recovery :P
Im a wuss when it comes to pain.

I would try and seek a second opinion, but from everything I have read there doesnt seem to be much of a choice, b/c I am actually dealing with 2 foreskin conditions at the same here. Time is also a bit of an issue as I want to have it done and healed by the time I go to Europe or at least uni so I can enjoy sex. Im in my sexual prime and cant have real sex until I get this fixed one way or another, dont wanna miss out on the best years of my life!

Most of all I dont want to go through one operation and recover from that, just to find out I need another. Which looks like it will be the case as far as me and the doc could tell. But again cant be sure until after the first one is done. But is it worth the risk of going through all that suffering twice if I have to get the full circumcision?

Any more info on that steroid treatment you mentioned? Website?

This isn't going to be helpful for you, but you reminded me of a funny story.

I have a friend from Kenya. Part of his culture is that you aren't really a "man" until you're 16 or so and are circumcised. So he had his ceremony and was doing his thing and it was all fine and dandy....until the next day when his smart ass brothers brought him big stacks of porn and forced him to watch. He was less than thrilled, needless to say.

So my advice to you, Lion...avoid porn at all costs :eek2:

Well I can speak from experience...I was circumcised two years ago at the tender age of 34. Was it as bad as everyone says? I didn't think so.

Mine was a medically necessary procedure; my foreskin would tear apart every time I had sex. It was done in a hospital under full anesthesia. It took approximately 6-8 weeks to heal to the point where I could have full intercourse. Probably about 12 weeks before I could have aggressive, pound her like a jack hammer, sex!

So the answers to the common questions;

Pain - Didn't really have much until I got an infection from the dissolving stitches. Use polysporin every day for two months to help avoid infection. I was just put on antibiotics everything cleared up within a week but I believe that it did slow down my recovery, but wasn't nearly as bad as I would have expected.

Looks - I like the new aerodynamic look, after it was healed completed. I think at first my doctor was thinking that I just wanted to look like the other guys in the dressing room. I guess some men really want the circumcision just for the look. Stupid!

24 hours after the surgery I had to change the bandage which was done in the bathtub as instructed. I unwrapped my fella carefully and when I took off the last wrap and saw the incision and stitches...I leaned out over the toilet and lost my lunch. It was a shock!!!!!   :(

Erections - Pulled on the stitches but didn't hurt much after the first night. No way to avoid night time erections healthy males have on average of 6-8 while sleeping. (I read that some place a long time ago)

Masturbation - I went from really enjoying masturbation before the operation to finding it totally awkward afterward. Hand position changed I couldn’t slide the foreskin back and forth over the head. Lube helps but again not the same enjoyment. It is the only thing that I really miss after the operation. :(

Oral sex - Way better! I don't know why exactly but it is. I think the lack of foreskin allows it to glide into and out of a well lubricated mouth more easily.

Sex - It definitely has changed, I would say for the better, but just different. I think it is easier to last longer if you chose…which brings me to the least talked about but for me the hardest to deal with...

My penis had spent 34 years tucked into my foreskin taken out only for my pleasure or waste elimination. It was now touching the inside of my underwear and sheets all the time it drove me crazy for about two weeks until the head desensitized. Wondering how it will feel? Reach into your underwear and pull back your foreskin then walk around for a few minutes strange, strange feeling.

If you need it, get it done, but don't rush into it. I spent 2 years trying to solve my problem before actually going under the knife. Different cream and soap combinations, my family doctor and a urologist.

Good luck.

Lovelion...Here is what I went through when I had to be cut a while back ago, 7 or 8 years back...Either I had real good HMO back then or I simply had sympathetic docs who put me completely under for the operation and I woke up to a good dose of Vicodin and absolutely no pain...First thing I did was reach down to feel it, which I couldn't cuz it was (itself) shot full of local pain killer that lasted a good while, but lemme tell you it was huge (swollen) ...I did the out-patient deal and was back home by 12 in the afternoon...I good two weeks off from work for recovery and a good supply of Vico to ease the pain...I happen to be a pill poppin' fool back in the day and this "excuse" to get wasted on 800 mg. a pill was a pill poppers dream come true...Needless to say, I felt no real pain cuz I was flying high the whole time...The stitches began to dissolve when expected and the only real problem I had was with the morning "piss hard-ons" the did get unconfortable and it did pop one stitch that to this day, left a sensitive scar on my right side of my dick which I am not complaining about...
The only draw back I have to this procedure was that , like I had stated on a thread here a while back, I regret having it done because so many studdlies like the skin intact...Oh well...Good luck to you...Yes, get a second opinion to avoid getting cut and having to sit around with ice packs like some of these other members had to do...And if you do have to go through it, tell the doc to give you general knock-out (I can't spell anesti-knock-out) and some good pain killers... :paw: :paw:

A cutted cock is always clean and doesn't smell so much like under the foreskin. I think in the partnership it's an advantage. And he isn't so sensitive and during sex it's easier for your waiting until the wife is so far for her cuming!! :three:
