View Full Version : how to act bisexual

c'mon, we all know how to act bisexual.... you ....mmm.... you.....ahhh.....hmmmmm....hold on while i think about this......

living in a world where image is everything, its hard to believe that bisexuals don't have a * image*...

short of saying we are bisexual, or having * i am a bisexual * tattooed on our foreheads, we generally are no different to the average man or lady walking down the road

bisexuals for the most part, are the most * at ease and relaxed * with their outer image..... and thats awesome..... we don't have the uptight * i'm straight * macho image..... we don't have the * flamboyant, feminine * image.......

we have the most beautiful *image * possible.....our smile......and that is a valuable asset.....but if you look at bisexuals, we do indeed have a public image..... its the image of the person next door....the lady in the office,... the man in the car...... we have the image of everybody

that may be the best friend and the worst enemy of the bisexual....we seek to stand out from the crowd, to be acknowledged and identified.....such is the criteria of a bisexual identity in the community.....

we need only to look at the most public gay fiqures to see that most of them are feminine acting...and in the publics eyes, thats correct for gays, ..gays can't be * manly * beings with adonis like bodies....the public would not allow it.....

seriously..... rambo with pink camo pants.... a nail file in his survival kit.....talking on the bad guys, with a feminine lilt....." excuse me but mr bad guy, i'm gonna come over there and throw a bitch fit "

batman in the bat cave with robin..... and their pink trimmed outfits...talking...." holy bat bulge, buttman, I mean batman...... lets go deal with two face, and omg he so needs a deep cleansing agent, and mosturiser.....", " yes, your right rootin, i mean robin......we must really go thru the riddlers closet ... he looks so ghastly in green.... maybe a nice shirt with some loafers and strides will help him to become a better person "

really.... i can imagine the box office now..... the weekly takings are in the negative....as they had to pay people to go to the movies.....

i am not knocking the gays at all..... but the public image of the average gay, puts the rest of the gay community into a box and shoves them away on the shelf.... fuck if i was gay, and i had a public image like that, i would turn straight.....

its part of the reason why i love the bisexual image.... we are your average joe..... we don't need a ego or deep cleansing skin care, to walk down the road.....and to see the number of people that stare at you blankly when you mention bisexuality, is hilarious.... they are educated people, with degrees, P.hD's etc.... and they don't know the first thing about bisexuality

WHY ??? cos we don't have a image..... we appear on tv as bisexual and people are waiting to see us transform at midnight.....or sleep upside down in a closet.....have horns in the middle of our foreheads.......
NOT GONNA HAPPEN lol

I am proud to be bisexual, but i am also proud to share that honour and title with some of the most natural acting, awesome natured, loving people in the world.... and to me, thats the true image of bisexuality... * the natural people *

so lets not pander to societies desires for a * image * for the bisexual...and create something out of a horror movie, lets just continue to be ourselves and show the world the heart of the bisexual image......US

Another good post LDD :)

This brings to mind the time when my husband told me he has a hard time seeing me as bisexual. When I asked him why he said " 'cause you don't act like a butch." I think that the lack of not being able to point us out in a crowd is what contributes to gays and straights being uncomfortable when it comes to bisexuals. On the one hand I enjoy not being noticable because once you do make it known that you are bi it forces others to put regular everyday faces on bisexuals rather than some caricature. On the other hand unless you come out and tell the world your bi you're virtually invisible.

Sure we do. I mean, consider the high profile bisexuals in the public eye: Angelina Jolie, Anne Heche, Andy Dick, Björk, Grace Jones, Courtney Love, Madonna... Our image is "batshit insane".

(Only half joking.)

It depends on whether you are male or female. Bisexuality isn't the same as androgyny. Bi men act differently than do bi women.

This is subdivided again by type.

Bisexual women act like lesbians who don't hate men, or like straight women who also like other women.

Bisexual men act like fags who don't hate women, or like straight men who also like other men.

No matter how a person might feel on their own, we act as we do in reference to other people, and because there are set and limited ways for social interaction to be recognized and accommodated, it is pointless, and ineffective, to pretend androgyny unless with others doing the same thing, in which case all anyone does is maintain an asexual balance between roles, which is tiresome, since sex wants contrast. But it's still fun trying whatever and seeing what happens.

As usual--Long Duck did a good post that makes you go "ummmmm-let me think about that!!"

I do agree with Long on the fact that bisexuals are the "natural people" We are the hidden (what I think is actually the majority) minority (I don't know if minority is the proper term or not, but I could not think of anything better).

Bisexuals are everywhere---I guess what we really want as bisexuals is to not be a group standing alone from everyone else---we simply want our huge numbers to be recognized in some fashion so that society comes to realize that:

1.)--YES--Bisexuals are for real, that they really do exist even though no one has brought home any bones or shot one
2.) that since bisexuality is so prevalent (and in my humble opinion) is actually the natural state of human affairs when it comes to love and sexuality--we are creatures that are not entirely bound by the instinctive imperative to use sex merely for procreation--bisexuality is no big deal since "everybody's doing it!"

I'd like to see a day where --people being people--when a group of friends is dissing on an absent friend--they say "Gosh--what is wrong with Gina--she only wants to be with men and she is sooooo hot!!" or when a father is having a conversation with his son about the facts of life, he tells him something about this: "my dear son---not only do you need the love of a good woman in your life, but the love of a good man as well in order to truly be a man."

It would be great and though it may never come to pass, --we can dream the dream can't we?????

L.d.d.Yes your musings, threads are thought provoking. Where im at is dealing with my feelings with my many gay friends and letting them live their own lives. With few exceptions they are so identified by there belonging to a rigid set of group behavior. As a bi man and a aquairian this is not a place where i fit in. Live and let live i guess.Ive said this before opon metting both bi men and women they seem so natural and friendly for the most part. Oh ive got to get back to work!!

couldn't help but notice Meta's list of celebrity bisexuals, and most of them are females, many of who are known for being physically attractive sexy ladies.. but yah, society seems more open to the idea of female bisexuals that male bisexuals, and that doesn't sit well with me..

but yah, i've never been about labels, i just try to be myself (even if at this point, i have no clue what "myself" really is)..

Fascinating post LDD, you should really get some of ur posts published in the 'articles' section. As for later posts (by Meta23) about well known bisexuals, why has nobody mentioned the 'beat generation' yet? lol, I mean they produced some of the coolest literature on the planet and loads of them were bisexual: Jack Kerouac was apparently bi [correct me if I am wrong, I read it somewhere on the internet], as for William.S.Burroughs many critics state that he was gay but the fact that he married a woman and had a son at one point in his life kind of implies at least a very slight bisexual side.

In some ways it would be great to have a bisexual 'image', it would work wonders for bisexual awareness and perhaps give us a sense of solidarity against biphobia. If I could choose an image, I'm thinking kind of a beatnik/heavy metal (classic metal like maiden, priest and sabbath) type one - just cos it is ultra cool  . But on the other hand, having an image soon leads to stereotypes which often don't represent the majority of the group [I mean most of the gay people I know aren't flamboyant/effeminate] and as many people have said, we are a very wide and varied group so any 'bisexual image' would exclude as many as it would include.

As for Someotherguy's and Torontoguy2007's points about male bisexuality, I have to agree. Why does society consider female bisexuality to be very attractive whereas male bisexuality is often seen as strange/dangerous/ wierd etc.... it is very annoying and one of a number of double standards that favour women. I guess criticism of male bisexuality probably stems from homophobia and people generally tend to be slightly more homophobic towards men who have sex with men rather than lesbian/bi women- this may be to do with the fact that lesbian/feamle bi scenes are a staple of 'straight porn'. The thought of some homophobic thug pleasuring himself over depictions of what basically are homosexuality/bisexualiy is just hilarious and ironic.

Just my :2cents:

thats what my parents say....I dont have it in me I dont act like it I dont sit there and look females up and down etc.....

I am happy with being bi....I just wish some folks would accept it and let me be me and let me do what I need to do.....and stop putting it as if Im desperate or I had the tests and I dont have it and I dont act a certain way blah blah blah....

I know something is wrong because I act more guyish than anything.....

I have found that trying to hump random stranger's legs (both male and female) really doesn't go over well. Other than that I just try and act myself... at my guessitmate I have had over 300 sexual partners over the years, it seems to work well.

Ahh LDD, how I love reading your posts.

We're a largely hidden community. And we are often misunderstood, even by others in the greater LGBT community. Its part of why I'm out. To put a face to bisexuality for every one that knows me. Knowledge is power.

Nothing wrong with that, if you ask me. You're much more likely to find me out in the dirt chasing snakes than sitting in a chair with a cross-stich. That doesn't make me any less of a woman, I'm just a woman who refuses to live in a labled box. :female:
P.S. I picked up the snake thing from my MOM, not my dad (he's petrified of 'em) and she's ruler straight.

but that's my name!!

Crocodiles, Aligators, dragons etc no fucking way and my girlfriend has to "resue" me from spiders, oh and I loathe hornets but snakes and lizards no problem.
You could get chickens as anti-reptile defences :) ; mine catch toads and lizards, play rugby with 'em for a while then eat them :)

If there's a way to "act" bisexual I have it down.
Most people can tell this about me, even observant heterosexuals.

I'm not sure how I do this and sometimes it's like I must have an invisible tattoo on my forehead.
