So I wrote the lyrics to a song. I dont know what it sounds like because i dont know anything about music, so I guess really its just a poem. I was listening to the song "How to Save a Life" but The Fray, and wrote it in the same format. I read my lyrics while playing the song in the background and it sorta works, I image is it did have music it would sound slightly similar to that. Anyways Im not much of a writer but the song is about my struggle through my teenage years and struggling through discovering my bisexuality so I though it would be appropriate to post it here. Go ahead and play "How to Save a Life" with it if you want, like i said I used the format of that song as a guide just because I dont really know anything about song writing. Its a very personal song and I hope you enjoy it:

Desert of His Life

Their black, their white, he’s shades of grey
As he works his way through this trying age
Hides it in the back of his mind
But it keeps creeping up form behind
He denies any chosen fate
All he does is hope and wait
He’s lying to his heavy heart
In this empty work of art

And he doesn’t know what he knew yesterday
Won’t the world just fade away?
He’s all alone in his desperate strife
Starving in the desert of his life

Stays up all night with the lights on
Trying to figure out how and why he’s wrong
He doesn’t know that he is not
He lost the inner battle that he fought
Crystal tears play the saddest song
But the piano strings don’t play along
He stays in all night by himself
Hating himself, hurting himself

And he doesn’t know what he knew yesterday
Won’t the world just fade away?
He’s all alone in his desperate strife
Starving in the desert of his life

Silently screams out for aid
As his defences begin to fade
Everyone he loves won’t speak to him
He’s all alone with his inner sin
He can’t ignore his grave of pain
As they bury him with shame
He faces the headlights with a sigh
And through the blinding light opens his eyes

And he doesn’t know what he knew yesterday
Won’t the world just fade away?
He’s all alone in his desperate strife
Starving in the desert of his life

And he didn’t know what he knew yesterday
Found a world so far away
Still alone but overcoming his strife
Through the desert of his life

Looks pretty good...Sang it out to myself in a different tune in my head and sounded good...Why not try to record it?... :paw: :paw:

Great lyrics LL...The one nice thing about not having the music is that you can kind put your own twist on the genre'. You mentioned a song that you were writing to which isn’t as unusual as you’d think. I’ve played guitar since about 13 and sometimes the music comes first and the lyrics follow and vice versa. Sometimes it comes all at the same time. I let it play in my head with a style similar to Megadeth and it works fine….probably wouldn’t have quite the same effect with Garth Brooks tho LOL

Love the lyrics. You're a pretty talened writer :)

Being vocally challenged, myself I just wanted to add this. In the Renaissance Faire circuit there's a performer's saying that I live by. I hope you'll find it as useful as I have.

"If you can sing, sing well. If you can't sing, sing LOUD!!"

VERY good. You have a talent to be sure. Especially like: 'Crystal tears play the saddest song', brilliant! :)
