I just read, "Arizona broke a strong national trend by refusing to change its constitution to define marriage as a one-man, one-woman institution. The measure also would have forbid civil unions and domestic partnerships."

Good job! :flag3:

I just wish it would have happened in my state.

We had a referendum on our ballot here in TN too and unfortunately it passed here :( tho considering where we are - it's called "the belt buckle of the bible belt" that was not really a surprise.

Well Arizona already has a law (since 1996) defining marriage as between a man and a women. Prop 107 that was defeated, would have banned a straight or gay couple from recieving benefits. So we in Arizona are not as liberal as you might think. There are still plenty of narrow minded people living here. Just look at Len Munsil,(he tried to run for governor)

Yes, still very many a close minded person lives here. However, I think defeating 107 was a small step in the right direction! It increases visibility in a way, too. Hopefully it will send a message to the rest of the country.
