I got to thinking about this after reading comments on, "When did you realize you were bi?" and the number of guys who mentioned porn in their responses. Growing up, the only available porn was dirty books where descriptions of sex were given but, as I seem to recall, I was well into my adult years before I'd seen written gay porn of any kind; watching various kinds of porn didn't influence me all that much and I admit to having developed a bias against porn so, as such, it wasn't an influence on me since I was already bi and I wasn't really seeing anything I hadn't done already.

How has porn played into being bisexual or having thoughts about it? I thought about creating a poll for this but decided against it because what you will say, if you choose to chime in, carries more weight than a poll does.

Growing up I never saw porn, but I grew up in the dark ages before the net, lol.........tho I did read a lot and that included things like erotic books and penthouse magazines, and yes I loved the articles, the pics of naked people actually did nothing for me......when I was shown gay sex magazines in my 20s, again it did nothing for me......

Then I found erotic art, with things like partly naked people in different poses and because I could put myself in that situation, it appealed to me......in later years I have watched amateur porn, some of which is very good, and again it is because I can put myself in that situation.......and also because there is emotion and energy in the porn, rather than bad music and acting...lol

I quickly found that I was developing a heightened awareness of body language, breathing, eyes and so on, later I would find that that it was an aspect of me being neuro diverse, and so porn did help me refine my sexual activities in the bedroom, and a lot of pleased partners but with the reverse effect of I was not enjoying the sex myself as the partners were focused more on what I was doing to them and enjoying the hell out of it.......and so I ended up so bored with sex I stopped having it for a number of years.....

One thing I will admit about porn, the different types have made me question my own opinions and stances, and awareness.....and my sister and my partner are also responsible for that as well with some of their own sexual exploits that they have told me about........having my partner put on porn while her and I are in bed, and all I see is my sister being fucked in multiple positions on the screen is something that a lot of people would have a fit over...lol......the fact that I did not even blink, got me hit with a pillow and told that I am boring, most people would react and say get that the hell off the TV......

But yes I can honestly say that most porn bores the hell out of me and does nothing for me.... which is completely at odds with a lot of feminist / anti porn stances which consist of I am male, therefore I will watch and enjoy porn and treat women as sex objects, not people.....and porn will lead to me mistreating and disrespecting women......and apparently no women enjoy porn, either producing it, acting in it or watching it........... nudges darkeyes and other women, can we please have your own personal viewpoints here.....

Porn did not influence my bisexuality anywhere near as much as real people have, and do......

Porn not so much for me. When I first got a computer and experienced porn in general, eventually it was cybering that made me realize I might not be straight. I'm picky and choosy and there's some porn I don't watch because I don't find the women particularly attractive. They're hot I guess but some don't mean anything to me. It's harder to find two guys I'm attracted to in porn.
, if that makes sense.

The only porn I saw as a kid was the JcPenny catalog where you could turn to the womens underwear section

The Sears catalog was a great source of jerk-off material for us as far as visuals went.

This is an interesting question.
First, I was aware of my dual attraction even though I never heard he word "bisexual" until much later. You were gay or straight. No in between.

There seems to be a multi approach to porn access.

Initially, I recall "Playboy" publication and some less quality publication. It was illegal or almost illegal to possess having porn publications.. Playboy grew to be mainstream and no labia or pubic hair showing. That was really raunchy. The appearance of cock in any porn was also banned.

I recall pussy movies in basements as part of batchelor parties use to show but I'm not sure if genetilia were shown in the movies. Again, no dick available. I think that you could see it in gay print publications.

I don 't recall Sears catalogue being any influence on me. Really strong padded bras were the norm. No real bulges in men's pants or I was just missing it all.

Then the internet exploded access for porn. I was no longer young and naive.

I used to focus on blowjobs, girls sucking guys and then took a look at bi men porn and really liked the man sucking man stuff. I knew I would be good at giving blowjobs and when I tried it for the first time, it was greqt. I tamed my gag reflex to take bigger cocks and love to deepthroat and well hung man. I like watching my throat bulge in the mirror as his big cock slides down my gullet.

It certainly made me more comfortable with MM activity.. More than just videos, are the stories posted in hotwife forums of bi guys that love to play with their wives lovers or on the side. That really cemented the idea of bi as a sexual practice I could love.

Adding to this - and thank you for commenting! - I've been with guys who, upon my arrival, puts on some porn to, as they say, set the mood. Okay, fine, if that's what does it for you and I'll at least be "polite" and "act" like I'm interested in what's on the screen when, in reality, I'm not. I've had guys ask about a particular scene - do I like that? Have I ever done it? Or they say, "I've been thinking about trying that!" and, okay but if they do want to try it, chances are it's not going to happen like it did on the screen and I've found that, sometimes, guys get disillusioned because whatever they've seen in porn doesn't get reflected in real life. Like, I do not like getting facials, but guys watch porn and giving someone a facial is "the thing to do" and it's hot and exciting for them but the reality being faced is too different.

I've recently talked to guys who are of a mind that some ass-eating is the thing that has to happen and, yep, because they've seen it watching porn and they've been influenced by this in some way... but the reality can be different and if what they've seen in porn doesn't come close to the reality of things, it could greatly influence their bisexuality and how they're thinking about it.

"whatever they've seen in porn doesn't get reflected in real life."

Right KD.

I recall when partnered gay men would admit that as a couple they rarely did anal. If you read even on this site you might think that all bisexual men like to be pegged or anal from their lover. Porn leads people to believe fantasy rather than reality. The facial idea is another example for women more so than men as receiver of facial?.

Porn had absolutely nothing to do with me realizing I was happily bi in the late 70's. I had great sex with my male best friend and loved every minute of it and wanted more. Though I still enjoyed women I also realized I liked men too.

For me growing up in the late 60's early 70's the only porn we ever seen was magazines Playboy etc... All us boys use to talk about pussy tits dick blow jobs all boy talk. My best buddy and I was 14 virgins we use to look at playboy and jock off but not in front of each other. Then one day he got hold of his father's stash all the magazines were very hard-core big pics that showed everything. That was the first time I see cocks and balls and cum shots and cocks in pussies. One pic set stuck in my mind a girl sucking a thick veiny cock with cum running out of the sides of her mouth. My buddy asked if i had cum, yet I said yes, he said prove it so dropped my pants and underwear to my ankles he did the same. we jerked in front of each other I shot my load fast he was having trouble offered a helping hand, at first, he said no but finely did and I ended up blowing him. so yes, porn had a little influence

I think for me porn is a big part of me recognizing what it is that really gets me off. I had some attraction to gay sex and cock when I was much younger, then decided I was hetero and moved on. Now with a wife in her mid 60s with much less sex drive I masturbate more than I have sex wit her, and I just find man on man sex more erotic than hetero sex. I don't know if that makes me bi or not but it feels like I am.

Some of the guys I grew up with "got in touch with their bi side" because they'd swipe their dad's dirty books - and some of them were about gay sex (and my own dad had quite a few of them as well) and because of what they're reading and jerking off to, they just had to try it and I'll say with mixed results. For some, it was everything they imagined it to be and for others, well, huh - that's not the way they read about it in that book! One guy had access to 8mm films and a projector and we had "borrowed" all of it and had a marathon jerk-off session watching stuff and I remember that while we were losing our minds over the women and their very hairy pussies, we were also in awe of the men and their huge dicks and women sucking them and, man, wouldn't it be cool to try what she was doing? Here comes the disconnect: The difference between porn's "money shot" and the reality that when you suck a guy's dick and he cums, you're gonna get it in your mouth more often than not.

Some guys were thrilled about that and others... seriously not so much. At that time, none of us could figure out why what we did wasn't the way we'd been looking at. But it is to note that there were guys who had shied away from sex with a guy to diving right on into it and they never looked back. I would grow up and hypothesize that porn's ability to visually stimulate could "do something" to a guy's thoughts and influence them into sexual acts.

I had never seen any porn when I started becoming curious about what a cock felt like, knowing I wanted to feel one. I didn't think about sucking till later in life. Looking back, we young boys used the word cocksucker as an extreme expletive meant to be one of the ultimate put-downs, so anytime the mere thought of actually sucking a cock came into my thoughts, I immediately compartmentalized it and moved on. The fear of being discovered playing with another guy's cock was a real deterrent. To imagine sucking one was just out of the question back in my younger years.

Cut to years later, I had a gf who gladly sucked my cock and always swallowed. Eventually I became so curious about what it would be like to be in her place that I eventually entertained the thoughts to the point of masturbating about it and using bananas to suck while I jacked off, etc. It felt so incredibly good for her to play with and suck my incredibly horny cock, I couldn't help but wonder how it would be to pleasure a cock myself.

No need to explain further except to say that when I found out where guys cruised, I ended up checking it out and had my cock curiosity satisfied....and I liked it from the start....a lot!

I have always loved porn, as soon as I got a VCR and could watch porn I started a collection but it was never anything gay. I had no interest in other men what so ever. Around the year 2000 I got my first PC so a whole new world of porn opened up to me.
One day I was looking at tranny porn and realized how turned on the transgender girls got me. Well twenty years later it has evolved a lot, I have fucked quite a few cute male asses and sucked a lot of cocks. I look for younger smooth guys, CDs and of course transgenders, rare in my area.
Porn brought out my bi side.

Porn was 100% the reason I started playing with men and being bi, porn is the evil culprit for my bisexuality haha ...no regrets of course but I am sure if I didn't watch porn daily and got myself all worked up and super horny I would not have thought of sucking my first cock ...it started with regular str8 porn I especially loved lesbian porn and would jerk off to it several times a day, but one day I happened to click on some bi porn and found myself really turned on and horny watching two guys 69 ...that lead to me watching more gay porn and before you know it, I couldn't get it out of my mind until I tried the real thing a cock in my mouth and glad I did, still love women but cock is so hot to play with ....thank you porn!!!!

I remember reading one of my dad's gay porn books and it was exciting because a lot of the sex being described in the book was sex I was already having with boys. Father/son, stepfather/son, boys and their male friends, and a lot of different "flavors" of gay porn. I started reading that book and in the space of reading two chapters, I had jerked off three times; I'd cum and think that was that, turn the page, get hard again from what I was reading and... repeat. I didn't get to the third chapter that day because I spent the rest of my time re-reading the first two chapters and jerking off repeatedly.

It was terribly exciting to read but while it didn't influence my sexuality, it sure gave me a lot of things to try out with my friends.

In retrospect, a lot. But not because any pornactually changed my orientation, but because in a world which tries to limit one's choices to simply "heterosexual" and "missionary"...porn, especially the old victorian porn books i found in my parents collection (the Pearl, Fanny Hill, Romance of Lust) introduced me to alternative worlds of sex that I may not have discovered until far later. My thinking remained primarily hetero until later in life, but when thinking about the things that turned me on when I read them, they undoubtedly opened my mind to doors that I would step through later in life.
