Back after long absence

For some time, I was unable to find Bisexual.com and sign on...I thought it had been taken down! Then, recently I tried one more time and it popped up and I was able to sign in again!

I've been exceedingly lucky to meet some real gems on this site, so I'm happy to be back and see some old acquaintances are still here!

Back in 2008, I met a fantastic bi girl, here. She'd had been posting here for some time when I arrived. We hit it off, right away. After writing and calling each other for a while, we met and the sparks flew! We were lovers for over 11 years, after that!

Knowing we were both bi, we allowed each other to have same-gender partners... with a few restrictions.

Being retired, I have/had more time to do as I wish, but my GF was still working and had children, so she was not able to find a suitable female. We were lucky to have each other and regardless of our time being rationed, every rendezvous we shared, was sublime!

In fact, if she had asked me to abstain from being with anyone else, I would have! She was that special and..... one of a kind! However, she only asked me to be safe and sane, with any males I chose to be with. I would have asked no more of her.....

I met one fellow and we had an arrangement to see each other for about 5 years, until we parted ways.

Almost immediately, after the previous relationship ended, I met another bi fellow (Not from this site). That was 7 years ago and we still have a connection.

We parted ways a while back and it was a great loss for me...life is that way, but you can take my word for it, I doubt if anyone can ever take her place!

I've talked to several on this site, who have had difficulty finding a reliable partner. I feel sorry to them, because I understand the desires and anxieties. I realize this is not a dating site, but for me, the best relationship I've had in many years, was was found right here!

There doesn't seem to be that many females here, now..... that's a pity; some of the best discussions I was ever in, was with a combination of bi women and men!

Still see dark eyes occasionally but yeah, lack of females in the site is something others have pointed out as well.......

I have asked my partner and the two other females in our group to join, they all have said NO, one because the sites got nothing to offer, as the conversations are the same thing over and over again......and secondly, the presence of tenni, with his constant issues with females and cross dressers being a part of the site.....my partner in the past, was a member and ended up hounded by tenni via PM until she left, same as rissababynta and other females..... putting him on ignore is simple and the best option honestly but how many people were not aware they could do that, and left instead......and my partner is not one to hide from a fight, shes just considerate of the other members

tho the lack of a chat room, is also something that others have mentioned as a factor in less and less people joining the site......

Social media has also played a big part in my eyes in that FB group, messenger are more fun than scrolling over the same threads over and over again, lol.....

It would require a lot of work from admins/moderators, and those don't appear to really exist for this site.

Honestly, if I had the money to buy the site, a few things I would change.

I would get rid of all those little side groups that are generally inactive anyways and clogging up space.
When people register, I would have them list ............" I am a male " "I am a CD" "I am trans" etc etc etc and not allow to be changed for 6 months

then based on your statistics, a female category where women can talk about issues with other women, CD's with other CD's so on and so on, it would basically be a main page with probably 4 sub category. I think any woman / CD/Trans who is coming here and dealing with learning more about themself doesn't want to be hit immediately with dick pics and hit on, some do, but I would bet the majority dont.

We have many many people like csreef,Kdaddy, Long duc who are fantastic for new young guys. We have a few of us that move to PM for new CD's to try and help them understand there is nothing wrong with them.

My personal feeling is, we need to attract more women, who can be a support group for other women, which will probably attract more...................but it's a catch 22 circle right now

but, thats my opinion , that and $5 will get you a coffee

The side groups were drews idea ( original owner and admin of the site ) and at the start they did take off, but quickly died off because of lack of posting in the groups......and because they are an addon to the site, same as the blogs, updating the site would cause them to be lost.

The separated categories could work....similar was done with shy bi guy with a guys only area and a general discussion area.......the trouble is with a limited active member base, it may divide the posting rate, and give the appearance that the sites mostly inactive which would put people off.....a bit like new members may do a few posts in different threads when they first join, but quickly find that there is nothing to really keep them coming back again......

The idea of seperated sections was mentioned to drew a number of years ago, when he posted about how to improve the site to appeal to current and new members, and he was standoffish about the idea of seperated sections, because he wanted the site to appeal to everybody, not just bisexuals and their supportive partners, but everybody, because thats what bisexual.com was created for.........and yes one member with a 5 letter name starting with T was immediately opposed to a open site welcoming all, cos it should be for bisexuals, and others like CD/ trans / straights etc needed to go elsewhere......

The problem with trying to attract new members over all, including women, is that we are competing with social media, with a much wider range of formats to suit different people.....and while I agree with attracting more women, the thing for me, is why do we want more women ? I mean for me, its because I value a wide range of opinions and thinking on a wide range of subjects, sex being near the bottom of the list but for others, sex is near the top of the list but little else is of interest......

Drew also started the paid membership scheme with the idea that it would fund the site, and allow for videos, better chatroom, more updates etc and that worked for a while.....

Unfortunately the site needs a major update......and while the site can be updated, tho with the loss of a lot of custom addons, it may cause people to freak when inactive accounts ( have not posted or been logged into for 2 years or more ) are no longer listed, people may realise just how inactive the site is.......

It needs more, like a return to the choices comic strip that was once part of the site, more events listed....etc......


The sticking point for me, is moderation...one persons experience is another persons taboo subject..... and that is a problem I have struck in a number of sites I have owned or co owned, sometimes less moderation is better......IE the site troll did not breach the rules with his many thread subjects but his personal attacks on other members were way out of line, however some members complained that too much of their threads were not focused on bisexuality and needed to be removed........

Personally if it was me, I would create a second bisexual.com site using a more modern site format, allowing for video chat and the standard chat rooms, as well as allowing people to post their own home made videos using a third party as well as linking with pornhub, three pillows, XNXX etc as a hidden site ( creation and testing until its up and running ) then open it so members could move to the new site or stay here........however the cost involved is rather high, so advertising and paid membership would have to be considered....because the cost is easily over $100k setup and design, and costing a few $1000 a month running costs.......

Ironically as old as bisexual.com is, its also one of the most trouble free, peaceful and safe sites I belong to.... and thats why I have stayed for so long......
