October is GLBT history month. Something I wouldn't have known if I hadn't seen a story about a school in Pennsylvania that decided to put it on their official school calendars, sparking all sorts of drama. I know there are mixed reviews among this community about our place among the larger queer community, but never the less, I thought I would share this bit of knowledge.

For me personally, I'm using it as a forum to educate and enlighten some folks in my life about life as someone who is not straight. I'm posting history lessons and gee whiz facts about the GLBT community to my public blog. It has sparked some wonderful conversations and brought some people closer. I'm finding more tolerance than I would have expected in some places and a disappointing lack of it in others.
