....You ever wonder if there's any truth to the comment that when a man gets an erection that the blood has simply flowed from one head to another?
I mean...it's got to come from somewhere and when I'm hard it seems that all I think about is sex, but by the same token, when I think about sex I'm not always hard. Sunday truly is a time of reflection. ;)

The blood flow is written about in this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erections
I consider myself to be sapiosexual, or I'm attracted to someone's mind as much as their body. I've even gotten aroused from people's intelligence, or fallen in love with them. Here are some examples of how this has happened.
I fell in love with one of my best friends and totally ignored his gender when we were talking about maize genetics, proteins, DNA, and Dr. Barbara McClintock. Ok, so it did help a bit that he's gay, fabulously handsome, intelligent, dates/has relationships with bi men, and my "type". But he has a bi boyfriend and it's very serious and I've "moved on" but sometimes I'll still think about him and we remain friends to this day. No, we've never had sex, we've only just hugged each other and kissed each other on the lips as a friendly greeting or goodbye.
However, I'm grateful and thankful that this happened since I had previously thought that I was just "sexual" with men and that I'd never fall in love with a man. Then all the memories of guys I'd been infatuated with as a kid/early teenager came rushing back and it was rather obvious to me now but I didn't see it as being that at the time when I was a kid/teenager.
If there's a man I'd want to move in and live with in a closed and exclusive relationship with it'd be him but I know that it won't ever happen, and that we're best suited for friendship.
Or in college I had a *HOT* uk lit prof that on the first day he said something in class about making out with women and men while drunk and he did have a girlfriend but I figured he was bi but just leaned more towards women. Anyway, he read us a few stanzas from Beowulf in old Anglo saxon and hearing him read the guttural language of Anglo saxon it turned me on.
Another time in class he showed us an overhead of two satyrs holding hands that was a costume design from the 18th century and said how they were just confident in their masculinity, and he did talk a bit about UK lit and gender theory/feminism.
This woman I became friends with and graduated college with we were talking about Anais Nin, Henry Miller, and groking each other before our university graduation. We both agreed that she and Anais Nin and Henry Miller understood that the human mind is the most powerful sex organ in the human body.
Or I was making out with a good friend of mine and he and I would talk about Norse mythology, history, philosophy, or zen buddhism when taking a break from kissing/exploring each other's bodies.
A gay man I write to on another site has this in his profile and I really like it: "I am more interested in your brain than your penis." and I'd have to agree with him that I'm more attracted to someone's intelligence or them having a horse hung mind rather than a horse hung dick.
Anyway, these are the ways that I get aroused and not just sexually by intellect, and why I identify as sapiosexual. I also enjoy talking about sex as well as having it on rare occasions.

It just goes to show you learn something everyday ... I'd not heard of sapiosexual until now, but I think I'm that as as well ...

Thanks DiamondDog :) What started as a comical pondering this morning turned out to be a valuable learning experience filled with much reflection. The link you posted along with it's sub-links make excellent reading that I would highly recommend. Your explanation and examples of being sapiosexual were very interesting. I can relate to much of what you described but never knew that such a term existed. I'm always grateful for new insights into human sexuality. Thanks again :)
