Not to spoil a mood:

On one of my trips to up state, Letchworth SP, or Niagara Falls I stopped at a motel in Montour Falls. Waking up in the morning we looked down through the window on a sewer plant. I'm guessing the desk clerk rightly assumed we were a one off stop in.

We made quite a few trips into NYS escaping our NJ experience. Our stays were generally good. A family owned motel for the night, at the time, ran around $15.00 for an immaculately clean room. There may have been a small hole or two on the bed spread.

Anyone else remember family owned motels? I'm not talking about motels for the desperate that can't earn enough to gather a deposit on a cheap apartment.

I motorcycle around that area. It's beautiful! Nice breweries and wineries. Great for taking back to camp. Didn't make it down last summer and probably not this summer. Canadian. Covid border problems! Have camped at times and hotelled it at other times. Usually go down with a couple of very staight guys. Who have no idea of my bi-side. And have been down with my wife. One of my favourite regions. Love the Adirondacks, too.
