Same-sex marriage became legal in Ontario, Canada in 2003, and was already legalized in eight of ten provinces and one of three territories when, on July 20, 2005, Canada became the first country outside Europe and the fourth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide.

What are the conditions where you live?

It’s legal now.
At the time when my ex asked me to marry him, it was far from being legal. We had a commitment ceremony on a beach, but far from the same thing as being married. All governments should just stay the hell out of the marriage business between consenting adults.

New zealand same sex marriage was approved on 17 april 2003, gained royal assent on the 19th of april and was made law on the 19th of august in the same year.....

In 26th of april 2005, NZ legalised civil unions, it replaces the word marriage with civil union, tho they enjoy the same rights but a key difference is that people have more freedom with how they conduct their civil union ceremony, than with a marriage ceremony as the churches did not want to relinquish their * control * over marriage,......

Incidentally most couples that rushed to marry when same sex marriage was made legal, divorced within 3 years of getting married......leading to the stance that sometimes its the fight that unites us, and the victory divides us.......
