So I just read an ‘article’, actually some one writing about and mostly copy/pasting from twitter, about Fred Rogers, Who was bisexual. To be clear, he is not quoted as saying the B word, but in the biography, his quotes speak directly to same and other gender attractions.

“ an exerpt from The Good Neighbor, a biography about Rogers by author Maxwell King, where Rogers himself talked about his sexuality and being attracted to both men and women.”

Won’t you be my neighbor?

i don't wanna debate if he was or not, but i don't believe he would talk about things like this. seems like something like this would be too personal for him & not polite to talk about.

Fred Rodgers, being a Presbyterian Minister would not have been likely to have spoken this. I am highly skeptical of without seeing a hell of a lot more behind this.

It is interesting that people write books about people who are dead, and say statements that can't be refuted by the subject of the book. Kinda cowardly if you ask me. :2cents:

I too am skeptical. And curious.

it points to this page on Google Books:

So, that dialogue appears to be in the book. He liked both, considered himself in the middle. The language was pretty clear. That does not mean he ever touched a man sexually. He married late in life, was happily married for 30+ years, and reputedly completely faithful to her. He made his life an open book.

This book is a best seller and not controversial. No lawsuits.

So, I am convinced. It is legit. And not disrespectful in the least.

Of course, some people will make him into a new Bisexual Icon, ... for about 6 minutes.

the PBS special about Mr Rogers it was brought up that this was possibly true - but it was couched in the notion that he was soft spoken and not a sports oriented man- which is typical. If he is a bisexual then I can't think of a better man to be in my camp.

I think it's great he could simply say he was equally attracted to men and women. Good for him. As a bi-male who feels that way I applaud his self-confidence to be able to simply say that.
As far as his outward mannerisms or image, it's slippery slope. I've met men who were macho and behaved "like a real man" is expected to behave and I was surprised they were bi or gay. I've also met men I would have sworn were gay or bi that acted effeminate, and I later found out the complete opposite...I've been out to a few friends, all of which said "I would have never guessed you were bi in a million years".

As a youth I went from disgusted and homophobic, to an adult who can accept male or female (or both and the same time :) ) as lovers. I was propositioned once in a NYC subway bathroom by an old dude who offered me $ 50.00 "to suck my dick". I ran away and threw up on the platform...and yet I got involved with a guy at school and we sucked and fucked a summer away in his parents house while they were at work...go figure... Kudo's to Mr. Rogers.... !
